Banner Staff Rivers Banner A controlled burn gone wrong near Rapid City spread to the town Saturday afternoon incurring thousands of dollars of damage. The burn, started by the Rapid City Fire Department earlier in the day, was well under control at the time and appeared to be of little risk to the area and mostly extinguished before noon. A weather shift of increased winds shortly after the noon hour blew embers towards a dried up pond largely populated by bulrushes, the pond and lake in Rapid City being left dry following the dam break last year. The reeds and bulrushes ignited and and the wind from the north proceeded to spread the fire towards homes south of the pond. A resident of Rapid City,
