New business running in Rivers By Marshal Fehr I spoke with Jesse Gilbert on Nov. 2 about the store. He told me the store buys shirts, mugs, water bottles, hats, etc. and produces logos on these items. The name of the store is Butterfly Consultations, (owned by Michelle Budiwski) which is a small business management company, and the name of the small business that’s growing inside that building is Champion Engraving, just one of Butterfly’s clients. The street address is 542 Second Avenue in Rivers. It was opened to the public on Oct. 8. The main reason for opening this business was because they had the space in the building, because the market doesn’t exist here and they wanted to keep things local. They currently have two full-time employees and one casual employee who keep the store open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The main things they do are embroidered clothing, sublimated logos (which is higher quality than silk screening), engraving plaques, name tags and trophies. They also can do large-scale photo prints in gloss or black and white, in a variety of sizes which range in price from 10 cents a copy to $8 per sheet. A full sheet is two by three feet but they can also print directly from a roll to create a two-foot-wide banner, up to 100 feet long! They are not committed to a specific line but they do carry Gildan and Performance brands. You can also bring in your own clothing, which is a nice option if you wanted embroidered/sublimated images as part of your fabric. They are open to new ideas and not afraid to try something new and figuring out a way to get it to work. If you would like some new cool stuff, I would suggest you go there (or call 204-761-4841) and get their help. Note: Marshal is a Grade 9 student at Rivers Collegiate who is interested in writing. He spent time learning from Rivers Banner during Take Your Kid to Work day.

Because Remembrance Day falls on Wednesday this year (newspaper production day), an early deadline is needed for the Friday, November 13 issue.

Official opening of addition in two weeks Tender winners Horizon Builders began working on this 30- by 50-foot addition ($621,168 ) to Riverdale Health Centre in mid-June. Their work was done mid-October and a grand opening has been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend and see the new space.
