Governance in 2021 BOARD CHAIR REPORT 2021 has been an exceptionally busy year for the College community; a year that has seen continued opportunity to grow through challenges and uncertainty and a year to celebrate many successes. Our community has experienced unprecedented change over the past two years as the impact of the pandemic continues to sweep the globe. Despite these changes, we have remained steadfast as a community, always ready to support each other and never wavering in providing a caring and welcoming environment. Throughout 2021, the Board of Rivermount Education Limited has remained mission driven, and vision focused. This has been realised through the development of the Strategic Plan for 2022 to 2026. At the heart of the Strategic Plan is a commitment to guide and encourage all students to realise their God given potential; to provide a holistic and unified approach to learning and living and prepare our graduates to take their place as confident and dynamic contributors to an ever-changing society. Our values of Perseverance, Integrity and Excellence continue to guide our aspirations for the College as we transition through the next five years. In supporting the future of our community, the Board has utilised eight pillars to provide a strong foundation for growth and development. These include quality teaching, digital citizenship, community emphasis, wellbeing, environmental awareness and responsibility, cross cultural connection as well as the continued provision of cocurricular opportunities all overseen with exceptional governance. As our community continues to grow, the needs of students, staff and parents remains at the forefront of our planning. To this end, the school year began with the addition of the new Senior Hub. This new resource has provided essential learning space to the Secondary School as well as function and meeting rooms and learning support classrooms. Construction began in Term 3 on the renovation and expansion of the Neville Bonner Centre. The new hospitality precinct will be ready for the commencement of the 2022 school year and will feature an array of quality resources to enhance our hospitality program including a café, function spaces and industrial kitchens. This year we welcomed our first cohort of Kindy students to the College family and the new Seedlings Centre has been a wonderful resource for the Primary School. Congratulations to all staff involved in the planning and realisation of this milestone. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all Rivermount College staff. The care, guidance and commitment you provide each day is greatly valued. To the class of 2021, the College Board also extends its sincere best wishes for your future. As you embark on new adventures be assured that you remain a very important part of our community and we look forward to your continued involvement. Our parents and caregivers are an integral and essential part of our community. Thank you for the continued support you have shown the College in 2021. By trusting us with the education of your children, we are both grateful and honoured. To the members of the Board of Rivermount Education Limited, thank you for your support and guidance and look forward to working with each of you in 2022. Garry Stokes | Board Chair
