Our Mission
Providing West Virginia youth with a high-quality dance education while giving our communities access to the live arts.
The River City Youth Ballet, the Official Youth Ballet of WV, is a pre-professional youth ballet company for dancers ages 11 to 22. It was founded in 1995 (in Charleston) and has since provided dancers the opportunity to learn and grow in the performing arts. RCYBE prides itself on its collaborative initiatives with other area youth performing arts groups and its out-reach programming and performances within WV.
Michelle Raider-Simon, Artistic Director and Founder of the River City Youth Ballet Ensemble and School of Dance. She graduated from Walnut Hill School for Performing Arts in Massachusetts for dance. She also holds a degree in Chemistry from WVSU. She has trained at Lecole Superior in Montreal, David Howard and Istvan Rabovsky in NY, and the Boston Ballet. She currently sits on the Program Committee for FestivAll Charleston, and is a member of the Charleston Rotary.
RCYBE is a non-profit organization registered as a charitable organization with the West Virginia Secretary of State's Office. RCYBE depends on financial support from the community to help under-write the costs of mounting the performances and to provide scholarships for talented dancers who could not otherwise participate in the program.
