What is RFID? RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), in simple terms, can be considered an electronic barcode.

An RFID tag (transponder) stores information and is activated by a radio signal which is generated by a reader. It then uses this energy to transmit its information back to the reader. RFID technology is used in environments where barcodes are not practical or where they cannot be read due to line of sight difficulties.

The transponders for use on your products are supplied as ‘read-only’.

A read only (passive) transponder carries a unique number (electronic barcode) that can be used as an identifier. RFID, unlike barcodes, do not require line of sight.
