Wood ands is one of S ngapore's oldest res dent a estates Located along the northern coast of S ngapore, it has the un que characteristic of being a border town to Ma aysia, along the waterfront, and is pos tioned along the agri-tech and food corridor.
S ngapore mports 90% of ts food and s extremely vulnerab e to d srupt ons in the food supply cha n. As our demand for food ncreases, there s a need to reth nk the way we secure our food. Wood ands presents a strateg c opportunity to further S ngapore s food security goa s as an agrifood trade and d str but on hub Marketp ace @ Woodlands s a masterplan proposal that aims to create an agri-food regional center through the creat on of dynamic new experiences and form ng a dist nctly un que globa food dest nation.
As my th rd stud o pro ect, I was actively involved n craft ng the storyl ne for Woodland's pos t oning I was p vota n explaining our narrative, on wh ch we based our premise of a marketp ace concept We worked together to transform th s conceptua dea to a physical p an of 3 d stinct marketplace typo og es: exper ence, community and kampung. I he ped to redesign the masterplan with team members wh le incorporating our var ous new and use models Ult mately, we hope to form a visua connect on between the ex st ng regional center and the upcoming ra l station connect ng S ngapore and Ma aysia.

Jurong East, Singapore
Jurong East has h stor ca ly been an ndustr a port in the southwestern coast of S ngapore. Am dst changing trends w th COVID and developments to become a regiona hub, we are tasked to develop a new pos tion for the 14 8 sqkm site under the prem se of p ann ng a post-pandem c c ty of the future. G ven the ncreasing mportance of menta health and wel -being in pandem c t mes, our group set to create an Oasis of the West a waterfront sanctuary for people iving and working n the west to rest, recharge and soc a ze.
We wanted to create a mixed-use d str ct that created spaces of recreat on, leisure and nteraction. Using the waterfront both at the coast and the reservo r as our key recreat on spaces, we concentrated h gh potential act v ty around these areas Hierarch es of connection was a so mportant, as we exp ored this through green connect ons and new forms of transportat on In this studio project, I played a major ro e n creating the conceptua diagrams, pract ced urban des gn pr nc p es, designed road sections, and cha enged and justif ed our ideas and designs to professors. S nce the focus of this semester was on urban des gn, each of my group members were respons b e for des gning d fferent sect ons of the d strict

one-north, Singapore
one-north is a eading nnovat on distr ct n Singapore Imagined thirty years ago and bui t ten years later by Zaha Hadid Arch tects and JTC, it is now strugg ing to f nd a path for the future Walk ng around the s te today shows an ev dent ack of vibrancy and human interact on. Under the theme of sustainab e urban intensif cat on, we embarked on a masterplan re-imagination for the site After thorough s te ana ys s and case study research on other nnovat on d str cts, our team dent fied the lack of res dent a and use with n the site as one of the key issues for the ack of creative and collaborative economy With our v s on “Liveab e one-north”, we deve oped a masterp an to justify reducing some business and use to increase res dent a and mixed use land uses
The focus of th s studio was on urban analys s, hence much abour was put into conduct ng desktop research and GIS to come up w th a comprehens ve SWOT tab e Once we had dent fied veabil ty as our key issue, my main role was to f nd comparative case stud es on other nnovat on districts and to form a bas s for the numbers suggested in our and use p an I also assumed the ro e of pro ect manager whereby I led meet ngs, activated team members to contr bute deas, kept track of agenda items to comp ete before each meet ng and ntervened when communication broke down Since communicat on and present ng are some of my strong suits, I helped to prov de justif cations for our masterp an intervent on, wrote po cy statements; and out ned the genera skeleton of our final crit, to make sure that the flow of our presentat on was cohesive

Macro Analysis
Orchard *SCAPE, Singapore
M xed-use bu dings are essent al to the exper ence of the c ty, but mixed-uses also involve mixed-users and differing user needs. In th s group project, we selected youth hub *SCAPE as our case study to understand how d fferent user groups navigate the r env ronment Wh le many shops have vacated evel 1-3 of *SCAPE n the dem se of COVID, level 4 and 5 have become spaces that encourage spontaneous act v ty such as dancing, p ay ng instruments and even cat-wa king In the wake of statements released about plans to revamp the space to look more l ke a typ ca ma l, we wondered how th s might present a threat to the current spontane ty that the space encourages.
We set out to research what are the factors that contribute to the evel of spontane ty we see at *SCAPE We did th s on two evels: from an urban sca e, we want to nvest gate how the ocat on and context of *SCAPE has enabled t to function d fferently from other m xed-use bu ld ngs and reta ned a leve of self-regulat on from a micro scale, we want to experiment with how the new y revamped *SCAPE might h nder some of the spontane ty we currently see on s te, a cr t ca element of a youth space.
For the Macro analysis, we used space syntax analysis through ook ng at mean step depth, connectivity, and v sib l ty to understand *SCAPE's ocat on re at ve to its surrounding bu ld ngs. For the Micro ana ys s, site v sits, VR experiment and surveys were conducted to understand user hab ts and preferences. My role for the group pro ect ooked ke he ping to conduct space syntax research us ng Isov sts and DepthMap software, as we l as conduct ng the site v s t and user surveys.

Paya Lebar Planning Area, Singapore
This ab assignment was an exercise n the process of phys cal p ann ng As such, the final outcome was not as mportant as pract c ng the process Set on the premise that Paya Lebar A rbase w l be re ocated n 2030, we were tasked to do an analysis and proposa for Paya Lebar P anning Area This first entai ed doing a comprehensive and thorough analysis on land use, demograph c, hous ng, econom c, cost-benef t and transportation systems
Through the outcomes of these ana yses, we were tasked to deve op a simp e plann ng v sion and general structura p an for the planning area, provid ng just f cat on for the placement of each land use type My v sion for the final masterp an of Paya Lebar was for t to be a reg onal hub w th a d st nct ve ocal ident ty that encourages a symbiot c re at onship between economy, neighbourhood and nature Some notab e des gn cho ces I made was to preserve the existing characterist cs of the site for example, keeping the runway to be converted into a commercia strip, whi e convert ng the airport contro tower nto an aerospace museum. Improv ng green network was a key aspect of prov ding a connect on between the natural spaces on the north-western corner and south-eastern corner of the site
Through this exercise, I earned the bas c theory on how to conduct var ous analysis, and I found that ref ect ng the numbers from these f ndings into a physical plan was the most cha lenging part

Personal Interests 06
Even before dec ding to pursue urban plann ng, I have always been interested n art as a creat ve outlet.
Pottery
Pottery has been s gnificant p ayer in teach ng me about form and funct ona ity It has been nstrumental n my ourney of discovering urban p ann ng: just as the form of a vesse nfluences the way we interact and engage w th t, s m ar y the design of phys ca spaces have the abi ity to impact the way we construe meaning and deve op affections towards t.
Sketching
Sketching has a lowed me to see the wor d d fferently Over the years, t has taught me about proportions and sca e, texture and shadows, al owed me to exp ore colours, and made me more observant of my surround ngs. I a so enjoy bl nd contour sketches (tracing contours w thout ooking at my draw ng) of friends and fam ly, as t activates my r ght bra n and teaches me to see th ngs without f rst try ng to make sense of them, but nterpret t as t s.
