Dear Friends of Rising Edge;
Welcome to Champion Hill, the home of the mighty Dulwich Hamlet. And to what is becoming a key feature in English and European football: the 3rd annual Sharks vs Bulls derby! We are celebrating our 5th underwriting year! A warm welcome to all our brokers, our eco-system partners, the members of the press, and even to our competitors! And of course, to our team! Looking back, what happened since the 2024 Challenge Cup?
• Firstly, let’s remind ourselves that a year ago, the Market Sharks team (us!) had retained the Challenge Cup trophy!
• Our D&O team has continued establishing itself as a steady and reliable partner to our brokers, in a market that otherwise can look like a very disorganized pitch!
• We have completed our acquisition of Amaniki to launch our new W&I offering, and now also have full access to the European markets, thanks to a subsidiary based in Frankfurt.
• We have launched a TV Channel! Check some really cool episodes in the D&O file series about high profile D&O cases, such as FTX or Nissan. The cast is present with us today, so feel free to seek autographs!
In addition to our new W&I team, we continue on-boarding new talent, and we are pleased to have welcomed Tom and Aneesha to the D&O team, and Lisa to the Corporate team (check our team roster in this programme!).
And this year, we are proud to be supporting MIND, a charity doing vital work in the field of mental health. Check out the MIND section in this programme to find out about our fantastic partners who have joined us in the fund raising. 2024 Challenge Cup: Match Report

Rising Edge’s home team, the Market Sharks, played in Dulwich Hamlet’s traditional pink and blue and were managed by Hamlet Men’s manager Hakan Hayrettin* assisted by Hamlet striker Danny Mills. The opposition team, the Broker Bulls, were managed by Hamlet Men’s assistant manager Terry Harris*.
The hot and hotly contested first half ended 2-2, with Miquel Scarlett scoring two goals for the Sharks followed by Charles Ringrose and Jon Mason netting one each for the Bulls.
The second half kicked off with two goals for the Sharks by George Brooke, and Miquel Scarlett getting his hat-trick.
But the Bulls came back to level at 4-4 with goals from Christopher Frain and David Crow.
With the match looking like it was heading for a draw Miquel Scarlett switched on the speed, tore in from the left wing, evaded several tackles and tucked the decider - his fourth of the match - beneath the Bulls keeper.
The match ended 5-4 to the Sharks, the same result as last year.
Ben Arnold, #19 for the Bulls was named Player of the Match winning an invitation to join us in the Director’s box at a Hamlet match.

Today we host the 2025 Rising Edge Challenge Cup at Dulwich Hamlet's home, Champion Hill. As one of the club's chants goes, 'no-one knows us, we don't care'. But we think you might want to so read on…
In 1893 a group of locals led by football enthusiast called Lorraine ‘Pa’ Wilson formed Dulwich Hamlet to play in the new ‘Dulwich League’.
The early 20th century saw 'The Hamlet' gained a reputation for playing attractive football and developed a strong local following. They achieved significant amateur success, winning the FA Amateur Cup four times between 1919 and 1937.
The Hamlet first played at Champion Hill in 1902 and stadium as you see it today was opened in 1992. It is soon to be replaced by a new stadium to be built behind the tall trees at the west end of the ground.
After several decades of low attendances, the 2010s saw fan initiatives, led by super-fan Mishi Morath, grow the club's popularity. In this period distributing discounted tickets to local schools and community groups proved incredibly successful. Many who first came in that period are still fans today.
The Hamlet's most successful player, and in his time, actually famous, was Edgar Kail who scored an amazing 427 goals for the club and played three times for England. Recent explayers include current Brentford defender
Ethan Pinnock and Peter Crouch.
For 130 years The Hamlet have hovered around the upper tiers of non-league footballthe most successful club never to achieve league status.
The recent nationwide rise in popularity of womens' and non-league mens' football has seen Hamlet attendances boom, with 3,300 sellouts at Mens' matches on Saturdays and often more than 500 here for Womens' matches on Sundays – by far the highest numbers in their retrospective leagues.
Hamlet supporters are reknowned for their warm welcome and for championing causes such as refugee support and gender rights. The club's Ultras, known interchangeably as The Rabble and The Pepper Army are also famed for their musical prowess, often belting out pithy re-imaginings of songs by The Beastie Boys, Cher, Donna Summer, Kraftwerk and Yazoo amongst many others.
