ED LAND-BAS SHIP E C I T N E R PRE-APP The Land-Based Pre-apprenticeship is a recognised progression route for young people and new entrants into the rural industry. From 2019-2021 the program was funded by Scottish Government, supporting a pilot roll-out to other regions in Scotland.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES • To identify suitable candidates who have a desire to work within the rural industry. • To provide practical experience, training and knowledge allowing youngsters to make informed decisions as to how they would like their career to progress. • To provide on-going mentoring and support to maximise the potential of the young person. • The ultimate aim is to help prepare young people for employment in agriculture and the wider rural sector.

PLACEMENT OVERVIEW • • • • •

26 weeks fully paid work placement, 40 hrs per week on a farm or suitable rural business. An upfront training induction commences in June with our partners SRUC, Aberdeen. Up to £1500 of training will be offered to each candidate. In addition, there will be input from industry professionals. Payment for time worked is in accordance with the Scottish Agricultural Wages Board (SAWB). • All candidates who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate of completion awarded from Ringlink. • Holidays will be accrued over the 6 month work placement in accordance with SAWB.
