Planned Parenthood Praises ABC for Having Character Abort Her Baby as “Silent Night” Plays Micaiah Bilger Nov 23, 2015

Planned Parenthood sang the praises of the ABC show “Scandal” on Friday after the TV show glorified a main character’s abortion to the tune of “Silent Night” and the defeat of a bill to de-fund the abortion giant.

“We just hope those in Congress — and throughout the nation — who are steadfast on rolling the clock back on reproductive health care access are taking note” of the show, Planned Parenthood said in a statement.

According to The Hill, the show was a direct response to pro-lifers’ efforts to defund the abortion giant, after a series of undercover videos showed top Planned Parenthood officials haggling over the price of aborted babies’ body parts and admitting to changing the abortion procedure to better harvest the parts.

“In the show that aired Thursday night, Republican Sen. Mellie Grant, played by Bellamy Young, successfully filibusters a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood,” according to The Hill.

Later in the episode, Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, is shown aborting her unborn baby at Planned Parenthood as the song “Silent Night” plays in the background.

The episode was a sickening hour-long “advertisement for Planned Parenthood,” Alexa Moutevelis wrote for Newsbusters.

“Between the execution of a man that opens the graphic clip below, the talk of ‘soft tissue,’ saying family destroys you, watching a doctor take his instruments between Olivia’s legs, and the hint of a smile on her lips at the end, it is a truly vile scene, stomach churning scene,” Moutevelis wrote.

Earlier this week, Senate Republicans promised to fast-track a bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood for a vote after Thanksgiving. Whether real or perceived, the stigma of unplanned pregnancy and abortion is an important issue for pro-lifers to address, especially in Christian churches, according to a new study.

A report by LifeWay Research found that many women facing unplanned pregnancies go silently from the church pew to the abortion clinic because they are afraid of being judged rather than helped.

“More than 4 in 10 women who have had an abortion were churchgoers when they ended a pregnancy,” according to the study, Baptist Press reports.

Only 7 percent discussed their abortion decision with someone at church; and 76 percent said the church had no influence on their decision to abort their unborn child, according to the study.

“That’s a huge opportunity for the church to have an impact on those decisions,” Scott McConnell, vice president of LifeWay Research, told the Christian news outlet. He called on churches to openly extend more grace to women facing crisis pregnancies.

“Women are perceiving judgment from the church, and that’s probably partly because there are clear teachings in the Bible including about how and why we make judgments,” McConnell said. “However, if they don’t start experiencing something different than what they’ve seen in the past, these numbers aren’t going to change.”

Among women who have had an abortion, according to the study:   

Two-thirds (65 percent) say church members judge single women who are pregnant.

A majority (54 percent) thinks churches oversimplify decisions about pregnancy options.

Fewer than half (41 percent) believe churches are prepared to help with decisions about unwanted pregnancies.

Only 3 in 10 think churches give accurate advice about pregnancy options.

A strong majority of the post-abortive women who were surveyed identified as Christians, with 43 percent saying they had attended church monthly or even more often at the time of their abortion, according to the study.

“But distrust of the church’s response is widespread, the survey shows. Nearly two-thirds (64 percent) believe church members are more likely to gossip about a woman considering abortion than to help her

EDUCATION understand options,” according to CareNet. “For most women with an unwanted pregnancy, if nobody is willing to say, ‘We’re going to help you through this,’ it’s hard for them to rationally say they should keep the child,” McConnell said.

The survey, conducted by CareNet, included 1,038 women who had abortions.

“When weighing an abortion decision, women say they expected or experienced judgment (33 percent) or condemnation (26 percent) from a church far more than caring (16 percent) or helpfulness (14 percent).”

Most women would not recommend that a friend or family member facing an unplanned pregnancy discuss it with someone at church, according to the study. And only about a third of women called church a “safe place” to discuss pregnancy options, the study found.

“While much work needs to be done to equip the church to help women and men with their pregnancy decisions, there are positive signs that many churches will be receptive to efforts to implement programming that addresses this need,” said Roland C. Warren, president and CEO of Care Net. According to the survey, women who attended church regularly were much more likely to say they had a positive church response to an unplanned pregnancy or abortion, than those who rarely or never attended church.

Letter from the PRESIDENT The holidays are upon us. The trilogy of holidays, if you will. We started with Thanksgiving. It's a uniquely American holiday because we pause to give thanks to God for His many bountiful blessings. From the early pilgrims who gave thanks to George Washington issuing a national proclamation of Thanksgiving, America has historically known from whom our blessings come. In this country religious freedom, particularly the Christian faith, has been a light unto our path and lamp unto our feet.

Recognizing our need to offer thanks brings out a gratefulness that leads us to celebrate the second holiday in the trilogy.

Christmas is a time of love. God demonstrated His love for us in sending Jesus Christ into this sin-sick world so that He might reconcile us all to Himself. God gave the greatest gift of all when he offered the world His only begotten Son, full of grace and truth. And in Christ there is newness of life.

Jesus makes all things new and gives us all a new life and purpose. New Year's Day is all about new beginnings; getting a fresh start to live a life full of meaning and direction that one only finds by following Christ. Our past mistakes don't have to define our future. With God all things are possible including turning around from a life of emptiness and living a new life that has a positive impact on everyone around you. Take time this holiday season to recognize God and with a thankful heart offer thanks for the life that you now live.

EDUCATION Planned Parenthood CEO Blames Pro-Lifers for Colorado Shooting: They’re “Hateful”

After using the tragic shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood to fund-raise for her abortion business, Planned Parenthood top brass continued the campaign to blame the actions of a deranged shooter not affiliated with the pro-life movement on pro-life people.

Although alleged shooter Robert Lewis Dear reportedly mentioned “baby body parts” when arrested at the scene of the crime, Dear has no connections with the pro-life movement and those who know him best say he was never interested in the issue of abortion. Dear, 57-years-old and residing in Colorado and North Carolina, was arrested at the scene in connection with the violent shooting that claimed the lives of three people, including one police officer and injured 9 others, including multiple officers.

However, as LifeNews has reported, the picture neighbors are painting of Robert Lewis Dear, who allegedly shot over a dozen people outside a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic on Friday, is one of a “rambling and incoherent” loner who never talked about abortion.

Dear appears to have no association with the pro-life movement and those who know him say he is an awkward man who never discussed religion or abortion. The profile they paint is far from a caricature of a pro-life activist who has an issue with the Planned Parenthood abortion business and more of a loner or renegade who may have mental health issue and, at a minimum, is a bit “off.”

Less than 24 hours after the shooting, the CEO of the abortion company, Cecile Richards, issued a fundraising email essentially blaming pro-life people for the shooting, saying the “feed domestic terrorism.”

Now, the head of the Colorado affiliate of the abortion corporations is continuing the campaign to demonize pro-life people in the wake of the tragedy. As CNS News reports: “We’ve experienced so much hateful language, hateful speech,” Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountain CEO Vicki Cowart told ABC’s “This Week” with Martha Raddatz. “Such a negative environment has been created around the work that Planned Parenthood does, around the idea of safe and legal abortion.

“And we’ve seen that across the country from all sorts of speakers in the last few months. I can’t believe that this isn’t contributing to some folks, mentally unwell or not, thinking that it’s OK to target Planned Parenthood or to target abortion providers.”

Raddatz asked Cowart is she was talking about politicians or members of Congress:

“I think politicians have been in that conversation and, I mean, you know that the airwaves are full of anti-abortion language, of anti-Planned Parenthood accusations, much of which is false in nature.

EDUCATION “And we at Planned Parenthood are, first and foremost, a healthcare provider. We provide life-saving services to all kinds of folks, men and women, across our communities. And the tirades against Planned Parenthood in the last few months have really been over the top.”

Planned Parenthood officials have confirmed none of the people killed in the shooting or 9 victims who were injured were Planned Parenthood abortion clinic staff or patients and authorities have released no motive for the shooter as to whether or not he actually targeted Planned Parenthood. And, according to the Associated Press, all of the shooting took place outside of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, not in it.

As LifeNews reported, the police officer killed during Friday’s shooting at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood is pro-life and a co-pastor at his local church. Garrett Swasey, 44, the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs police officer who was shot and killed while responding to the shooting was described by his fellow church members and friends as a courageous man and loving father who drew strength and inspiration from his Christian faith.

Multiple pro-life groups quickly condemned the shooting while pro-abortion presidential candidate Hillary Clinton sent a tweet exploiting the active shooting before the shooter was apprehended or a motive known to push for support for the abortion business.

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains issued a statement responding to the shooting, saying it doesn’t know if Planned Parenthood was the target of the attack.

“We don’t yet know the full circumstances and motives behind this criminal action, and we don’t yet know if Planned Parenthood was in fact the target of this attack,” Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains President Vicki Cowart said in a statement. “We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country.”
