Rodebjer’s capsule collection honours an artist integral to Swedish culture.
“I’m intrigued by [Carl and Karin’s] synchronisation – their creative talents coexisting in their life as well as in his art. How progressively they led their life at their time. And how intertwined their legacy is with the idea of what Sweden looks like,” says Carin Rodebjer.

“Imagine having the chance to botanize in all the closed cupboards, hidden nooks, and crannies to show of the living home that the Carl Larsson estate was then, and still is today. Tere are few environments that are so inspiring, and the goal of this book is that everyone should be able to take some of that inspiration with them.”

”Ett Hem: Carl och Karin Larsson värld”, by Elsa Billgren
Carl and Karin Larsson’s lifestle and interior design has inspired and fascinated the design team at Åhléns. With this collection they want to highlight both parties of the Larsson couple and draw atention to the creative magic they crafed together.
“Nordic designers have been at the forefront of the international design scene for decades. But haven’t we been a bit restricted in terms of color? Design House Stockholm has decided to reach across the centuries and dress up nine objects selected from our contemporary collection of accessory frniture pieces with four of the bold colors of Karin Larsson, a legend of Swedish art and design”

Carl & Karin Larsson
Carl Larsson was born in the Old Town of Stockholm in 1853. His family was poor and he grew up in dismal circumstances. His strong artistic talent emerged early and at thirteen, his teacher at the school for the poor, urged him to apply for art school. Afer the Art Academy Carl worked as an llustrator of books, magazines and daily newspapers.
Karin Bergöö was born in 1859 and grew up in Hallsberg, Sweden where her father was a successful businessman. Karin’s artistic talent showed early and she began to study art at the Arts and Crafs School (Slöjdskolan) in Stockholm. Following this she went on to the Art Academy in 1877.
Te couple met at the Scandinavian art colony in Grez-zurLoing outside of Paris, France.
Lilla Hytnäs
Carl and Karin Larsson married in 1883 and had eight children. Te family quickly became Carls favourite models. In 1888, the family got a small house, Lilla Hytnäs in Sundborn, by Karin's father Adolf Bergöö. Lilla Hytnäs became Karin and Carl's joint art project where their artistic talents got an outlet in a modern and personal way.
Karin’s creative power and artistic taste is a very important component in Carl’s art. Te bold interior decoration, the modern textiles, the rustic furniture – most of which she designed herself. One could say that their artistic talents coexisted in powerful symbiosis – she created the home that he depicted and together they created the motifs that have come to characterize the picture of Sweden that is cherished the world over.
