Photography 101: Everything You Need To Know Photography is becoming more common as cameras are getting cheaper and smarter. But is it a skill that you are good at? If you want to take wonderful photos, you need to teach yourself as much information as you can concerning the photography world. Here you will find several wonderful tips with key information about photography. To take a great picture, move closer towards your subject. Moving in closer allows you to frame your subject, and avoids disruptive backgrounds. It also has added benefit of capturing facial expressions which can add a whole new element to the picture. If your subject is not close, you tend to miss many of the little details. Try different shutter speeds on the same scene to see which one gives the best results. You can either capture a precise moment or use a higher exposure to blur together a period of time. A fast shutter speed lets you grab objects in motion and a shutter speed that is slow allows you to capture quiet natural settings. When photographing outdoors try to avoid direct sunlight. The sun can cause shadows, squinting, and highlights that do not flatter the subject. Aim to take outdoor pictures during the two golden hours, dusk and dawn. Tinker with your cameras manual white balance. Indoor shots usually have a yellowish cast thanks to artificial lighting. It's rather difficult to fine tune artificial lighting, but luckily, the white balance feature on your camera is here to save the day. This will improve the quality of your pictures, giving them a more natural appearance. Write down a few notes when you take pictures. It can be hard to keep track of where your photographs were taken, or what you were feeling when it was shot. Carry a notepad with you and take notes about the location and how you felt about it. Make sure the subject you are photographing is close enough to clearly see. Nothing is as bad as taking a photograph of something that is not close enough to see well. Your photo will be more compelling when the subject is at the proper distance to be seen clearly. Though there are techniques that can help you be a better photographer, they are not secrets and can be learned easily. Continue experimenting and learning, and with experience over time, your pictures will markedly improve. Digital cameras give you the ease of not having to develop or keep all your photographs. You want to constantly experiment with new subjects and techniques, then judge and compare the results to see what worked best. As you prepare to photograph different landscapes, you should remember that your pictures should use three important elements. These include the foreground, mid-ground and background of the image. You need these for good photography and other art forms as well. It is not a good idea to wear white when having your pictures taken, if you want your photographs to look their best. Cameras that use autofocus try and determine all the different shades that are present within the photograph. It is almost inevitable for white garments to appear washed out in pictures.
