Teammates, It’s already June and we’re off to a strong start in 2017. Our economy has improved significantly. All divisions of the company are ahead of goal, and demand for our machine

Our Mission:

None of this is possible without you! Thank you for making us one of the top performing Caterpillar Dealers in the country.

But that’s not all. Despite being one of the top performers, we are continually looking for new areas of opportunity that can help us grow our Caterpillar business.

We’ve identified that we need to expand into the retail market with a more diverse product offering to develop the Riggs brand and develop relationships with customers that we have not traditionally done business with. Think Spartan mowers, Intimidator UTV’s, LS utility tractors, etc. We have many examples already of customers who started their relationship with us by purchasing one of these products, then thought of us first when they wanted to buy or rent a Cat machine because of the outstanding customer experience they received on the initial transaction. CONGRATULATIONS WARRANTY TEAM!

Riggs was awarded the 2016 Gold Warranty Award from Global Warranty.

This is the first time Riggs has ever reached Gold! Out of 120 Caterpillar Dealers worldwide, only 56 dealers achieve Gold. Out of those 56, only 6 in North America qualified! What an outstanding accomplishment! We are so proud of our team!!

have done so by becoming the customer’s one-stop shop for all of their outdoor needs. In Layman’s terms, once a customer purchases one item (any item) from our competitor’s store, that store becomes their primary place of doing business. This is where Riggs Outdoor fits in.

.A. Riggs Tractor Company has served the needs of Arkansas customers for 90 years. We represent a world class brand in Caterpillar and the Riggs brand has become known for integrity and loyalty across the state.

Throughout our history, we have constantly adapted to a changing customer base and economic state in order to grow the business. Today, we have identified an innovative opportunity that we believe will position us for positive growth for many years to come.

Riggs Outdoor is a new and promising division of our Company. The primary focus is to sell more Caterpillar small equipment, raise awareness of the Caterpillar brand, and expand our customer base. Over the last 10 years, we have seen the Retail customer significantly increase in number and buying power. These customers are not the traditional corporations or family owned businesses that we service in our legacy operation. These are people like you and me who want to purchase affordable products that get the job done. These products include small equipment (skid steers, mini-ex’s, backhoes, etc.), power sport products, handheld power, small Ag tractors, etc. Our competition has positioned themselves to be the primary source for this growing customer base. In an effort to expand our Caterpillar business, we are combining all of the needs related to the Retail customer in one location. We first introduced this idea in 2016 when we expanded our product offerings to include zero turn mowers and UTV’s in an effort to drive more retail customers to our locations. These products have experienced great success and have accomplished the goals listed above. Due to their success, we began to seek new ways to expand. For the first time, we will have stand-alone Riggs Outdoor locations in which our products will meet both the construction and leisure needs of our customers. Riggs Outdoor is currently in the process of acquiring two power sport dealers. The additional product lines added will include Kawasaki, KTM, Husqvarna, Yamaha, and many more in the future. The pull created by this store will accomplish the goal of increasing the awareness and accessibility to our Caterpillar small products.

Needless to say, we are extremely excited to carry out this plan alongside you. It is critical that our employees be understanding and bought-in to our vision. Our success depends on our employees in every aspect of our business and the same is true with Riggs Outdoor. s I sat down to write our contribution for the revival of the Riggs Newsletter I pondered what message we had for all the employees of our company. Do we need to communicate some of the new products that we’re offering? Should we spotlight a customer or employee success story? It became apparent pretty quickly that with all of the new employees that have come through our doors since the last Riggs Newsletter that the most appropriate way to begin our contribution is by explain who we are, what we do, and why we’re important.

Our goal is to be the one stop resource for our customers when it comes to finding innovative ways to increase machine productivity, safety, and operator knowledge on the job site.

iTech is Riggs Cat’s dealership arm for Trimble Heavy Construction products. As the exclusive dealer for Trimble machine guidance products, we are your local resource when it comes to determining a customer’s needs for rental, service, parts, and training for Trimble products. This includes (but is not limited to) all machine guidance systems for Cat dozers, motor graders, excavators, pavers, asphalt compactors, and almost anything else we sell. We focus on using the latest in GPS and machine control technology to enable our customers to be faster, more efficient, and ultimately more successful in their work.

OCE & PROFIT SHARE UPDATE “A vendor, Clay Price with Genie, bragged heavily on Dale Dudley regarding his hospitality. Clay was set to teach a class during rental training and decided to come after hours the day before to see our campus and figure out where he needed to be. He originally ended up in the retail center where Dudley was “very friendly and hospitable” despite the late hour and helped Clay navigate the campus to get to the training center. Clay then (accidentally) ventured into the employee parking lot where he got locked in because of the automatic timing lock on the gates.

Clay was ready to make his bed for the evening when, once again, Dudley came to his rescue and keyed him out of the parking lot. Clay said Dudley was “a kind young man who had nothing but good things to say about Riggs.”

C9.3 connecting rod failure that results from a NOx Reduction System (NRS) cooler failure



NRS cooler failures cause the engine to hydraulic lock and to bend or even break connecting rods.



NRS cooler service life will be reduced if trapped air is not removed after the cooling system repairs are made.



Entrapped air will cause small cracks to develop between the cooling passages and the exhaust stream inside the cooler. The engine will start to consume small amounts of coolant with progression to a catastrophic engine failure.



When refilling the machine/engine coolant system, be sure to get all the air out to protect the NRS Cooler. The required coolant refill method is to vacuum fill. (If the vacuum fill method is not an option, please contact Technical Support.)

If you can change the way you think about stress, it can become your friend.

When you notice the signs of stress, like sweating and increased breathing, you think to yourself ‘stress has taken over and your body isn’t handling it well’. But instead of thinking about what’s going wrong, focus instead on what’s going right…

Health psychologist Kelly McGonigal says “Participants who learned to view the stress response as helpful for their performance were, well, less stressed out, less anxious, and more confident. But the most fascinating find to me was how their physical response changed.”

Normally, when a person feels stress, their blood vessels constrict. If prolonged, this cardiovascular state could lead to major health problems. But for those who viewed the effects of stress as helpful, they did not have any blood vessel tension. In fact, the response is similar to what happens when someone is happy, or even brave. Compared to the effect of viewing stress as a negative thing, embracing its presence is not only a better alternative, but a much healthier way to live.

Next time your heart is pounding from stress, think to yourself ‘this is my body helping me rise to the challenge.’ You’d be amazed at what your mind can make your body believe.
