Currently studying Architecture at Nanyang Polytechnic, my passion for design was sparked in Secondary School. Over the last few years of my diploma, I have gained skills in Digital tools such as Revit, Rhino and AutoCAD, as well as Hand sketches and model making. Aside from my diploma, I am also a music enthusiast, capable of playing various instruments from piano to drums. I am also an active member of various religious communities, as well as enjoy volunteering at my church for retreats and events

A place where students of different backgrounds and studies can get together and create new friendships, inspired by the range of schools surrounding the central site at Dhoby Ghaut.

1. Hub of Melodious Remedies

Study Collages

With the objective of helping me to understand the history of the site and its relevance to the project, the collages helped me to delve deeper into specific parts of the history of the site.

The first two shows the history of Macdonalds House and The Cathedral of the Good sheperd.

The one to the left is a mapped on collage on the history that my group found was relevant to this project

The main onjective of this project is to build a community of students who have an interest in learning more about the arts, or to start a new hobby.

Thus the Project is seperated into three main areas(Right to Left):

1. Exhibition Hall, for collaborating students from nearby schools to prsent their works

2. Courtyard for student to lounge and do work

3. Classrooms for classes and studio works, for students who want a quiet place to work on their project, or for people to attend classes to learn a new skill

2. Way of the Water

A place to learn, surrounded by the creative identity of the environment, drawing inspiration from the wings of a swan, to design and develop a place for people to learn about what is around them.

Swans are often recognised as: graceful elegant

This is evident even in the motions of their wings

The project main objective is to provide a space for students to learn and grow within nature itself, thus the project emphasises on open spaces and outdoor activities

3. The Peaceful Corridor

Drafting a persona from the studies of the site, and bringing to life a safe space to house altars, for prayer and worship, often frequented by people

Studying the habits and lifestyle of a particular site in Little India, these drawings and comics imitate the actions of the persona i have drafted, before further developing a space for this persona to pray and worship, without fear of interruption from the outside world

The safe space provides a walkway for people still seeking to use the alleyway as a shortcut, while also providing a space for the persona to pray in private

The Idea behind the Model

The colour and liveliness of the past and present communities the bridging and the linkage between different communities

The simplicity that lies beneath the surface

Overall, the model captures the liveliness of the space i intend to recreate
