{ wash } Cleanse in the garden. The bath is a perfect location for a living wall, as the humidity generated by the rain shower each day will more than suffice the watering necessities of a variety of plants that thrive in tropical climates. The living wall serves the dual purpose of naturally purifying the air in the bathroom. Teak planks, or any other naturally water-resistant wood variety create pockets for the plants. A concrete trough sink filled with riverstones carries on the language of a garden retreat; a sliding butcher-block counter allows for shared space for toiletries, while shelving in the window well provide for additional storage. Mirrors mounted to plywood panels covered with neutral mosaic tile are backlit with led strips to provide a soft, flattering light.

{ sleep } Bliss settles in over the sleeping brow of one nestled in the clean white linens of the queen bed tucked into a platform of reclaimed wood planks. The slightest breeze causes the soft sheers to dance overhead. The platform, adjustable to the size of the mattress preferred by the user, is elevated by 4x4s, stacked 2 high, so as to provide storage space for shoes below. Plywood panels, separated by a narrow piece of frosted acrylic, create the wall between bath & bed rooms, allowing for diffusion of light between the two spaces, as the light shifts over the course of the day. The brick wall at the head of the bed should be painted off-white, or a very soft sage to provide a visual resting point.

{ nourish } The workshop of the tailor shop becomes the kitchen of the home, where creations are made daily to feed the body, while the many conversations that will be had here fill the soul. A stacked stone veneer wall hosts a small fireplace to warm the space on chilly winter nights, while a herb box built into the window-facing side of the island counter bar provide wonderful, fresh herbs in the warmer months. A butcher block sink with open shelves & shelves with reclaimed windows as doors provide ample storage space below, and a wood-slat canopy climbs the far wall, allowing additional space to hang pots & pans. A small dining table, seating 2-4 compliments the 3 counter-height stools at the counter bar. The existing doorways seperating dining from living spaces is fitted with salvaged planks to create shelving that still allows for visual access from one space to the other.

{ rest } A sunroom eases the mind of the troubles of the day, while the body finds rest on the walllining daybed bench. The bench, with plush linen cushions and soft throw pillows, is built with many cubbies beneath, to store books, games, throw blankets, photo albums, and the like. Salvaged window frames fit with mirrors form a new wall, reflecting sunlight from the 3 small windows within the space, filling the space with natural light, and giving the impression of a larger space.
