MIDTERM PROJECT
Studio Built Environment 1 - 2020
This is a group project. It stems from each member choosing 9 objects with shared characteristic, one characteristic per person. Then, all 3 members will extract key points from the 3 characteristics to design the shelter.
THE SHELTER concept process
Fold the paper according to the sequence, then unfold the paper according to the diagram, and stitch paper together into a circle.
Repeat this process continuously, then connect the papers that are stitched together into a circle.
The more papers there are, the larger and more flexible the shape will become.

RATTANAKOSIN PERSONA & STORY
STORY OF AN URBAN PLACE
Urban Architectonics 3 - 2023
The origin of Rattanakosin Island.
Before the reign of King Chai Raja Tira Raj of Ayutthaya, the land on both sides, Bangkok and Thonburi, was once the same territory, collectively referred to as "Bangkok" The reason they were considered the same land is that the Chao Phraya River, which flowed down from the north, entered Khlong Bangkok Noi and then exited through Khlong Bangkok Yai. Later, during the reign of King Chai, it was decided to dig a canal shortcut to shorten the journey from the mouth of Khlong Bangkok Noi to the mouth of Khlong Bangkok Yai, or what is now known as from in front of Bangkok Noi Railway Station to in front of Wat Arun.
As a result of this canal excavation, the flow of the Chao Phraya River now cuts directly through. What is now seen as the main river, as the water no longer flows into Khlong Bangkhoi Noi as it did before . This caused the old river channel to become a canal, and the newly dug canal during the reign of King Chai to become the main river. The area of the same land on both sides of the Chao Phraya River is now officially called "Thonburi City."
In the past, this area was used as a boat docking point and a tax collection checkpoint, serving as a passage for foreign cargo ships heading to Ayutthaya. This attracted a large number of foreign traders, boat moorings, and settlements in the Bangkhoi area.
During the period when Ayutthaya lost to Burma, King Taksin made the decision to move the capital from Ayutthaya to Thonburi because of its strategic advantages. This led to the development of the Thonburi area, with the construction of forts, temples and palaces.
Later, in the reign of King Rama I, the royal palace was moved from the Thonburi side to the Phra Nakhon side due to geographical reasons.
As a result, the Chinese residents who used to live on the Phra Nakhon side had to be relocated to an area called Yaowarat at present. The Phra Nakhon side has since been more developed than the Thonburi side , which used to be the same area, mainly due to its status as the capital city and the influx of foreigners.

From the Prannok Pier, the view of the riverside trading district of Tha Maharaj reveals a distinctive feature: the use of pitched roofs, echoing the shape of the roofs of the nearby Wat Maha That temple. Additionally, the height of the buildings along the waterfront gradually rises, offering a view of the temple. At night, the area comes to life with colorful lights from the row of buildings, creating a lively atmosphere.

STONE & FIRE
[QUARRY & THE CITY] KAENG KHOI - PARIS URBAN WORKSHOP 2023 collabolation with École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Paris-La Villette
Lutetian limestone refers to a type of limestone that originates from the Lutetian geological epoch, which occurred approximately 47 to 37 million years ago during the Eocene period. It is found in various regions, including parts of France, particularly around Paris , where it was extensively used in construction due to its durability and workability. The limestone is known for its light beige to grayish coloration and is prized for its quality, making it a popular choice for architectural projects around the world.
19 石と火
The Section of The Limestone Quarries
The stone and rocks that disappeared underground in Paris were used as materials for the construction of houses and buildings above ground. It appears as shown in the diagram.
Paris may not have many tall buildings visible, but in reality, there are also people living underground. If we attempt to explore and study the underground areas of Paris, we will find that the depth of the underground exceeds that of the buildings and structures we see on the surface.
Cycle of Paris Stone
What are the reasons to recycle stone?
It takes thousands of years for stone to form in the earth, making it both limited and unique. Stone must be extracted from the earth through quarries, which means it will typically cost more than concrete. However, stone may require less maintenance over time compared to concrete. Stones often do not need mortar or special connectors.
The reasons or benefits of recycling concrete.
Recycling concrete helps reduce construction waste, extending the lifespan of landfills and saving builders disposal or tipping fees. Additionally, it reduces transportation costs.
The diagram illustrates the cycle of stone and concrete. When ancient architecture deteriorates, the stone or concrete is recycled and re-used to construct other buildings, or even to repair the original structures. This process eliminates the need for further mining activities, as it offers a sustainable way to manage the productsof the quarry.

Icon & symbol Each derived from the letter A, which is the central letter of the frame. It is picked up with inclined lines and angles, integrated with various symbols of the store. For example, removing the horizontal axis of the letter A and rotating it will create a symbol resembling an arrow indicating direction. Adding a circle on top of the letter A will create a male symbol, representing the men's restroom.
