How to give to Ridley Gifts can be made by credit card, by cheque made payable to ‘Ridley Hall’ or by standing order. Further details and a donation form can be obtained from the Ridley Hall website www.ridley.cam.ac.uk or from the Development Office at development@ridley.cam.ac.uk tel: 01223 741079.

The Ridley Hall Annual Fund allows a large number of relatively small donations to have a major collective impact.

Please consider Gift Aiding your contribution. For every £1 donated with Gift Aid we can claim a further 0.25p back.

In the Fund’s first year donations came from parishes and individuals, and from all over the world, from the United States of America to the Middle East, Korea, Germany and France.

US taxpayers can make tax-effective gifts to Ridley through Cambridge in America, at www.cantab.org or Cambridge in America, PO Box 9123 JAF BLG, New York, NY 10087-9123. All donations must be earmarked for Ridley Hall.

Some of the projects your generosity has enabled us to carry out include:

Lots of people giving small amounts, ideally through Gift Aid, can provide a substantial Annual Fund which we can use for the benefit of all students.

• running the 2011 annual prayer weekend for first year ordinands and their spouses at All Hallows, Ditchlingham. The weekend is a crucial element of community and spiritual formation, and costs £8,000–£9,000 every year • repairing the chapel bell-tower for the first time for over 120 years, enabling us to preserve the wood, which was rotting, and replace corroded lead • improving the College’s energy efficiency by installing secondary double glazing, repairing broken windows, and upgrading the heating • upgrading the bedding in student accommodation

Regular giving enables Ridley to plan ahead and, especially when Gift Aided, can add up to a significant amount over time, for example: Amount per month £10 £20 £30

The 2012 Annual Fund Campaign

Keeping our sights high We are committed to providing an environment in which our ordinands can gain the maximum benefit from their time at Ridley. The Annual Fund was launched in 2011 to enable us to meet this objective.

Ridley Hall is committed to its role as a provider of first-class residential training for ordained service in collaboration with one of the world’s leading universities.

In changing times, we can no longer rely on central funding for all the College’s needs. Rather than lower our sights, we must build creatively on past achievements to meet the challenges of the future.

Ridley has always relied on the generosity of its supporters; the College has no historical endowment, and Church of England funding no longer meets the full costs of training.

In this first year, a total of £70,000 has been raised, exceeding expectations and enabling us to support a range of projects of direct benefit to our students.

We are greatly encouraged by this response. Please help us to keep our sights high at Ridley Hall by giving to the 2012 Annual Fund.

Hawaii Hong Kong the continental USA and the UK

The money raised in the Annual Fund goes directly towards supporting today’s Ridley community. The unrestricted nature of the Fund allows the College to direct the money to the areas of the greatest need at any given time.

Areas of College life covered by the fund include teaching; buildings and grounds; the chapel; IT; the library; and support services.

Ridley currently has: • • • • •

How your gift could help Your gift could make a real difference in meeting the ongoing expenses of providing residential formation; to give just a few examples: • One person giving a regular donation of £10 per month Gift Aided would pay for a student’s social context placement (around £150 per student) • Ten people giving single donations of £40 each Gift Aided would pay for the double glazing of an average-sized window in Ridley’s listed buildings (£500) • Four people giving donations of £50 each would pay the transport costs for a student’s parish attachment for the year (on average £200 a year) • Gifts of any size can help the College maintain the library facilities in the face of a decrease in library funding
