A Message From the President and CEO

Greetings, Ridgeview is delighted to be your host for the 31st Annual Golf & Taste Celebration. From its humble beginnings raising $13,700 in 1986, to a total of nearly $9 million raised to date, this golf event has helped some of the most important capital, equipment and technology projects in Ridgeview’s history.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support the renovation and expansion of Ridgeview’s Emergency Department in Waconia. The Lifeline for a Lifetime campaign, set to begin in early 2017, will allow Ridgeview’s emergency services to remain as a premier resource in the southwest metro.

We have long been blessed with, in my opinion, the best emergency physicians anywhere—Emergency Physicians & Consultants, PA. Not only is this group exceptional in the field of medicine, but they are also exceptional in their spirit of philanthropy. What an awesome testament of their loyalty and dedication to Ridgeview that they have committed to being transformational donors to this project.

This newly renovated emergency department will allow for faster triage and treatment, and enhance the capacity to provide lifesaving procedures and treatments. It is our hope that we can offer specialized care and amenities for the very old and very young patients. Financial support from this tournament, and the many other individual donations that we seek, will allow Ridgeview to continue to provide the excellent care that you’ve grown accustomed to and deserve.

Emergency care for life’s unpredictability When back pain, a stubborn fever, an enlarged spleen and a mass above her heart led to the news she and her family never expected, Crystal Gravelle of Watertown was afraid. Thanks to the care and treatment she received at Ridgeview, Crystal was able to rise like a champion and become even stronger. Although her story has its ups and downs, it ends with a surprise that will make you smile.

“Cancer isn’t for wimps,” says Crystal Gravelle of Watertown. This busy 32-year-old mom, high school paraprofessional and volleyball coach fought and won the battle against Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Then two years after diagnosis, she announced delightful news that no one expected.

Although Crystal experiValerie Johnson, who diagnosed her; Dr. Martin Blumenreich, her oncologist; surgeon Dr. Todd Elftmann; Dr. David Gross, enced pain and setback her radiologist; and Dr. Amy Meath, her obstetrician. along her courageous cancer journey, she never lost sight of the finish line. The starting line was Ridgeview Emergency Department in Waconia.

“When I went to the ED I thought I had a kidney stone,” Crystal says. “This wasn’t exactly the news I anticipated.”

The Ridgeview Emergency Department nurse named Bobbi P., who selflessly stood by Crystal’s side that day, gave her strength and a lifetime of gratitude she’ll never forget. Crystal says, “Thankfully, the right people were with me at the right time.”

After getting the news of a cancer diagnosis, Crystal says she was surrounded by “nothing but the best doctors” who won her trust with personalized, upbeat orchestration of her treatment plan—all complete before she left the Emergency Department.

With the care plan and Ridgeview team on her side, along with an army of friends, family and community cheering her on, Crystal says she had what it took to “kick some cancer butt.”

During a series of tests, scans, lab work and six months of grueling chemo treatments, Crystal believed through it all that stumbling wasn’t part of the game plan. Finishing strong was.

She did exactly that.

Today, she is cancer-free and credits the entire Ridgeview team who made her feel important, and—when it mattered most—comforted.

Now for the surprise. Shortly after her treatment, Crystal became pregnant.

Her son, Brody, is now big brother to his new little sister Olivia, born in October.

“My beautiful baby girl feels like a precious reward at the end of my rigorous race,” Crystal says with a beaming smile.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support the renovation of Ridgeview’s Emergency Department in Waconia. Crystal Gravelle raved about the overwhelming compassion she received from Ridgeview but says the Emergency Department environment could be better—and is pleased that Ridgeview is taking action to enhance this important area. This expansion will allow Ridgeview’s emergency services to remain as a premier resource in the Twin Cities—providing a great resource for the communities we serve and attracting the best staff. This exciting new project will allow for faster triage and treatment, and enhance the capacity to provide lifesaving procedures and treatments.

FOUNDER’S SOCIETY Ridgeview Foundation established the Founder’s Society in 2002 to recognize Ridgeview Medical Center’s most generous donors. This distinguished group of benefactors helps to enhance the health and well-being of the people in the communities served by Ridgeview Medical Center and Ridgeview Clinics.

Founder’s Society members make individual commitments of $10,000 or greater, which can be paid at one time or through a payment program over a period of years.

2. The auctioneer reserves the right to add or withdraw items to or from the auction without notice.

3. A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item if the bid is the final, winning bid. If you bid on an item and win it, you agree to pay for the item won, in full, by the end of the evening.

4. All purchases are final and there are no refunds. Further, no exchanges or substitutions are allowed unless the description of an item expressly provides for one. No refunds will be allowed on travel packages for cancelled tickets or accommodations.

5. Unless the description of an item expressly provides otherwise, all vacations and services must be claimed and used within one year of the auction date, and all vacation accommodations must be mutually agreed upon with the donor.

6. All items are sold “as is.� Ridgeview Foundation disclaims all express and implied warranties including, but not limited to, warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. If you purchase an item, you waive all claims for damages and liability against Ridgeview Foundation, Ridgeview Medical Center and the donor of the item, that arise or may arise, in whole or part, from the utilization of the property or services you purchased.

7. You are responsible for locating and removing your purchases from the auction premises before the end of the evening. If you purchase a service or other nontangible item and the certificate for the item is not available at the auction, it will be mailed to you within one week of the auction.

8. Ridgeview Foundation will automatically charge your credit card unless otherwise directed by the winning bidder. Winning bidders who have registered their credit cards at registration will have their credit cards billed for their auction totals at the end of the evening.

9. Payments are tax deductible as a charitable contribution only to the extent provided by law. Generally, you may deduct as a charitable contribution the amount you pay above the fair market value of the item purchased. Please consult your tax professional.

Silent Auction: Electronic Bidding HOW TO BID Bidding is fun and simple! When you are ready to place a bid, simply enter the bidder number that is located on your name badge to log into a tablet or a kiosk. Once you are logged in, you can place a bid for the minimum amount required or you can place a maximum bid (see Bidding Strategy below). Once your bid has been placed, you will immediately be notified on the device if you are the winning bidder or if you have been outbid by another bidder’s maximum bid.

BIDDING STRATEGY You have the opportunity to bid two different ways. You can bid the traditional way by increasing the bid by the minimum amount, or you can set a maximum bid. When you place a maximum bid, the system bids for you against other bidders until your maximum bid is reached. Once your maximum bid has been exceeded, you are no longer bidding on that item until you place a new bid. This option is ideal for guests who’d like to place a single bid on an item and not worry about checking back to see if they are still the top bidder.

BIDDING LOCATIONS There are three locations where you can place a bid.

1) Bidsheet Tablets These tablets are located in front of each item in the silent auction area and replace the traditional paper bidsheet.

2) Bidding Kiosks At several locations in the tent there are bidding kiosks. At a kiosk, a bidder will be able to check the status of all their bids, increase their bids if they’ve been outbid, browse the entire auction catalog and place new bids, or make a donation.

3) SmartBid Smartphone (see next page) Guests are able to register their personal smartphones and use them to browse, shop and receive updates from the auction, all without having to download an app!

SMARTBID SIGN-UP & FEATURES 1) Register your phone for bidding capability.

Either locate an auction kiosk in the silent auction area or visit the Guest Services table in the registration area.

2) Log into the kiosk using your bidder number and tap the smartphone sign-up button on the left side of the screen.

3) Follow the on-screen instructions and provide your smartphone number where indicated.

4) In about a minute, you’ll receive a text message. Click on the link in the message and a web browser will open on your phone with the login/ confirmation page.

5) Upon confirmation of login, you will be directed to the SmartBid home page.

Place a Bid From your phone you will be able to browse the silent auction by category and place a bid on any item. Simply click the “Browse Auction” icon from the SmartBid home page and find the item you’d like to bid on.

Receive Outbid Notifications If another bidder outbids you on an item, you will receive a text message notifying you that you’ve been outbid. In that message will be a link directing you to the item you’ve been outbid on, and you will be able to place a new bid if you desire.

View the Status of Your Bids Quickly view the status of bids you’ve placed all together by clicking the “My Bids” icon. If your bid is no longer winning, you can simply click on that item to place a new bid.

Make a Donation At any point throughout the evening, you have the opportunity to make a donation. Simply click “Make a Donation” on the SmartBid home page and select the amount you’d like to donate.
