Drury Lane’s Little Shop of Horrors

Message from the President Welcome to Drury Lane! As we are opening on a memorable evening let us thank our wonderful directorial team Michael MacLennan and Anne Barnshaw, and our co-producers Carrie Mines and Rick MacKenzie. These 4 people as well as our stage crew and on-stage actors have been working hard to be safe and put on an amazing show for you. Thank you to our COVID-19 committee who are still working diligently keeping up with the most up to date government guidelines and adjusting our COVID-19 plan when needed. In these difficult times thank you for coming out and supporting Drury Lane, I am sure you will enjoy your evening and be able to get lost in the story of the show for a couple of hours. Please sit back, relax and enjoy the show! Joanne Warren, President Drury Lane

Message from the Director A show about capitalism, the allure and addiction of celebrity, and the sacrifice of people for the almighty dollar. They say, “art imitates life”, but who would have predicted how true this statement would be? We have been thrust into the most challenging time in generations. Throughout the worst moments in history, live theatre has endured. It has been a salve to our collective anxiety and fear. It allows us to escape the darkness of the moment and come together as a community to share a common positive experience. Our goal with Little Shop of Horrors, is to provide an opportunity for you to breathe (albeit with a mask on). It is a chance to focus on something joyful rather than fearful. Everyone at Drury Lane has worked tirelessly to meet or exceeded all the required protocols for you, the audience, to regain some small semblance of normal during a very difficult time. Our patrons overwhelmingly supported our return to the stage. You are the reason why we are here tonight. Enjoy this moment and enjoy the show. Michael MacLennan, Director & Choreographer * *The participation of this Artist is arranged by permission of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association under the provisions of the Dance.Opera.Theatre. Policy.

Carrie Mines, Co-Producer

Carrie has changed hats for this production and is proud to be a Co-Producer of Little Shop of Horrors. A perennial in the popular Music Hall, Carrie has also enjoyed performing in Legally Blonde, The Drowsy Chaperone, Camelot and will be appearing in the upcoming spring production of The Last Resort. Little Shop of Horrors has been a labour of love for Carrie who has experienced such joy in watching this show come to life and give all involved a chance to participate in their art. Despite the restrictions of this pandemic Carrie is thrilled that Drury Lane has been able to safely and responsibly bring this show to you to enjoy and feed your soul the same way it has fed hers. She is further delighted to work again with her daughter Katharine (Chiffon) and welcome son-in-law Jay Costa (Voice of Audrey ll) to the Drury Lane family.

Rick MacKenzie, Co-Producer

Rick, as a student of creativity, applauds the novel approach taken by the creative team of Little Shop of Horrors to accommodate the needs of the actors, volunteers, members and patrons to be safely immersed in this musical theatre experience. A particular thank you to my Co-Producer, Carrie Mines for her tenacity and vision. Our solid group of cast and crew have shown extraordinary discipline in their craft under extreme casting, rehearsal and performance demands. Thanks to my wife Carol and the entire Drury Lane family for allowing me to be a small part of this beautiful ART.

Carol MacKenzie, Artistic Director

Welcome to the first show of Drury Lane’s 2020-2021 Season! We are so happy that you have decided to join us as we present Little Shop of Horrors and embark on a Season launch like no other! What’s different? Well you are seated in an “intimate house” of no more than 50 audience members. The actors are all wearing face masks, and are almost always safely distanced from one another. For safety reasons, we have eliminated Bar service, tables, and all print materials. And with all of this, you are still here, ready to slip into the magic that comes from live musical theatre. During COVID times, we recognize that The ARTS are very much an essential component of our lives, and therefore the creative teams involved have gone above and beyond to make sure that we could open safely and be here for those able to join us. As Artistic Director, I can’t say enough about our Directors, who figured out how to stage this show while keeping everyone safe. And a huge standing ovation for my Co-Producers, Carrie and Rick, for taking on the endless task of producing a show. You had an incredible list of extra challenges, and you navigated through them with tenacity, creativity, resilience, and incredible leadership. To our Patrons, I again say thanks! Without you, we wouldn’t be here. Enjoy the show! Drury Lane’s Little Shop of Horrors

Samantha Lindgren, Assistant Stage Manager

Samantha is pleased to be back at Drury Lane Theatre working on their production of Little Shop of Horrors! After making her performance debut last season in Legally Blonde Samantha wanted to explore a new side of theatre, backstage! Thanks to the amazing cast and creative team! Enjoy the show, and remember don’t feed the plants!

Timothy Hutten, Assistant Stage Manager

Timothy is excited (and nervous) for his first back stage experience. My personal experience with plants is little to none, and what amateur experience I do have would definitely not qualify me as one who has a “green thumb.” If the plants in this show don’t make it through the run...you can call my agent.

Courses starting all year round. Modified to suit your schedule and learning requirements.
