TOWERING WINDS

In urban and suburban cities all over the world, more and more wind farms are popping up. No longer confined to the vast parries of rural towns, now the wind turbines are coming to a town near you in bolder, more creative designs and innovative styles that allow for sustainable energy to be brought to you. In places like Evanston, Illinois (close neighbor to eco-friendly mega city Chicago) a new ordinance was passed to allow for the creation of a wind farm in Lake Michigan. This farm will generate power for more than Even in the urban centers, new wind collecting devices are being placed in buildings that allows for gathering up precious wind power in a more subtle way than their large cousins outside of the city. New designs for wind gathering techniques range from a spiral structure that rests atop a building that can provide power for the entire structure, to horizontally resting structures that sit on highway overpasses that will add, not only power to the highway lights, but also a little flair on a morning commute. homeowners are installing their own wind turbines that can, lower their carbon footprint not to mention their electrical bill, by a great deal every year. In London suburbs, the practice is catching on and more and more English homeowners are installing their own wind farms to help ease the expensive cost of private home ownership. We can’t just be reliant on massive new, enviromental technologies to provide us with sustainable energy. Take the first step and see what you can do to decrease your own carbon footprint and lower your energy bills. The planet is counting on us to solve our energy problems.

A Wee bit about me I emphatically love the color green, seriously a little too much I am from Kentucky, however, contrary to popular belief I have never married my cousin I have been running cross country for years and I still don’t understandwhy Fact my glasses are real......I do not have fake lenses Fact I live with two people from Detroit, and I am a Blackhawks fan, awkward I hate cargo pants, epecially when they are camo.....ugh There is an actual cover letter and resume after this nonsense

Dear Reader of this, I am a student at Loyola University Chicago’s School of Communication with a major in Advertising and Public Relations as well as a minor in Visual Communications. I am very excited to take what I have learned in school and start applying it to the real world. I have experience with al,ost everything from press releases to Adobe Photoshop. In my resume, I have chosen three of my favorite campaigns that I had a part in. The first was with my internship at ADROC productions. There I was the graphic design intern for the events planning agency. I worked with clients and helped them create invitations, tickets, and other items used for their events around the city of Chicago and even some international pieces. Some of the companies that I worked for include: Dom Perignon, Cricket Wireless, and Hennessey. I took a great deal from this internship and I think that I will be able to translate the experience into a real world position. Going off of my design experience, the head of WLUW (Loyola’s on-campus radio station) asked my Layout and Editing class to design a new ad highlighting WLUW. My design was selected out of over twenty applicants. It was featured for a brief time around Loyola’s campus. Needless to say, I was thrilled. Finally, in my Public Service Campaigns class, my group was given an honorable mention for our work with the Chicago Tomahawks. The Chicago Tomahawks are a hockey team for developmentally disabled kids, teens, and adults. It was our task to get them new players and get their name out there. We implemented media contacts, press releases, PSA’s, created fliers, brochures, fact sheets, and held events to get the Tomahawks name out to everyone who was interested. For our work, our campaign was given an honorable mention from the Ebling foundation, and we each received a letter of recommendation from Mr. Chuck Ebling himself. I hope this has been a good look at who I am and what I am capable of doing. I want to show all of my skills in communications, from my design work to my people skills. I am a creative and energetic individual and I can’t wait to get started. Regards, Richard Carroll
