SUNNY KANG

Co-Founder and COO EARTH THERAPEUTICS

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

A Korean woman born in 1943, Sunny Kang never dreamed of stepping out of her traditional role as a mother and housewife — and is still incredulous how she ended up an entrepreneur and businesswoman. As she tells it, she started out as the cleaning woman at her husband’s one-room office on Manhattan’s 28th Street and worked her way up.

The company grew, and Sunny was confronted with challenges that pushed her to learn every aspect of business — from human resources to

MISS LONG ISLAND PAGEANTS

Adriana Lane is beyond excited and honored to be crowned Miss Long Island Teen 2025. She is extremely passionate about sharing her platform “Building Self-Confidence in Young Girls.”

A 17-year-old high school senior at Smithtown Christian School, Adriana’s accomplishments include membership in six honor societies. Outside of school, she has many hobbies. Adriana enjoys singing, working out, reading, and coaching gymnastics. One of Adriana’s biggest accomplishments is completing a 15k Tough Mudder Race. This race consisted of 20-plus obstacles in difficult weather conditions.

“Building Self-Confidence in Young Girls” is the platform Adriana chooses to represent. She feels extremely driven to help young girls in her community see their “sparkle” and create a space for them to build friendships with other girls around them. During her reign, Adriana plans to create mentorship groups throughout Long Island, partnering with schools and libraries, to show girls that they are all unique and beautifully made just the way they are.

Adriana is ready for what this year ahead holds and is dedicated to representing the Long Island community at Miss New York Teen USA!

Whathasbeenyourgreatestachievement(s)withinthepastyear?

My greatest achievement was creating & is having the ability to share my platform, “Building Self-Confidence in Young Girls.” Being crowned Miss Long Island Teen has already given me so many amazing opportunities to do so.

Kristen Rosario has been honored with the title of Miss Long Island 2025, a role she is deeply grateful for as it allows her to give back to the community that shaped her. Currently attending the Western Suffolk BOCES Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, Kristen serves as class president.

Kristen is proud to make history as the first mother to hold the title of Miss Long Island, and she is passionate about showing others that they can be limitless in pursuing their dreams. She encourages women to embrace their multifaceted potential as leaders.

As part of her platform, Kristen created Uplift and Inspire, an initiative focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Her mission is to offer hope, inspire perseverance, and help others triumph through life's challenges.

Kristen actively volunteers with organizations such as AFSP and NAMI, and as Miss Long Island 2025, she plans to continue collaborating with these and other groups to expand her outreach. She is excited for what her reign will bring and is committed to being a source of inspiration for all of Long Island.

Q&A

Whathasbeenyourgreatestachievement(s)withinthepastyear?

The past year has given me so many blessings and achievements I’m extremely proud of. As part of AFSP, I have become a trained Talk Saves Lives and It’s Real program presenter, active tabling participant, and an Education Committee member. I also work with NAMI and have become a trained Peer-toPeer presenter, member of their Board, Chair of the Youth Leadership Council, and with both organizations I get to share my story of my journey with mental health to multiple different audiences across Long Island.

My greatest achievement of the year overall was winning the title of Miss Long Island; I competed in my first pageant over seven years ago and finally having all of my hard work come to fruition is a feeling like no other and all of the opportunities this title has given me are beyond my wildest dreams.

ATUL SKINCARE

As a young boy growing up in Queens, Atul Bhatara recalls seeing his mother, grandmother and aunt pulling spices from the kitchen to use for their home skincare regime.

Turmeric, cinnamon and chickpea flower became a face scrub. A yogurt and saffron and turmeric mixture became face moisturizer. Coconut oil mixed with Sandalwood paste became a serum. The smell and textures of this family routine is what Atul remembers the most.

“I love this idea of using all natural ingredients and knowing what you put into something and why you did it. This is shared through generations in our family,” Atul says.

Atul remembers being so impressed with the home ayurveda remedy results that his dream was to take the ingredients out of the family kitchen and into global distribution. During the pandemic, he got busy and went to work.

His entire proprietary unisex Atul Skincare line is cruelty free, Paraben-free, dermatology tested and U.S. made in FDA registered facilities, Each product has passed microbiological testing.

Many critics tried to dissuade Atul from launching his skincare line, but he embraced what people thought would be business obstacles because overcoming the impossible is something Atul — who was born prematurely with Cerebral Palsy — has done his entire life.

“My Cerebral Palsy has given me a bunch of circumstances and challenges where I have to be motivated and just not let anything impede my progress. There has to be a level of motivation that starts deep in the mind.”

.

“I don’t want Cerebral Palsy to be the focus of my story, but I require mental strength and spiritual support and a loving caring environment. That’s where my strength comes from. My story is about this incredible skincare line that I was able to build through the women in my family and my heritage and my culture.”

To me, beauty today is all about confidence. It’s not about fitting into one mold — it’s about feeling good in your own skin. Over time, working in this industry has completely changed how I see beauty. I used to think it was just about appearances, but I’ve seen firsthand how taking care of yourself can shift someone’s entire energy. True beauty shines through when someone feels empowered, comfortable, and proud of themselves — and helping people get to that place has been the most rewarding part of what I do.

Q&A

1) How do you define beauty today, and how has that definition evolved through your workandimpactintheindustry?

Today, I define beauty as confidence, vitality, and authenticity radiating from the inside out. Early in my career, I saw beauty mostly as aesthetic — smoother skin, fewer wrinkles, sculpted features. But through years of working closely with patients, I’ve learned that true beauty is deeply connected to health and how someone feels physically and emotionally. My focus has evolved from simply treating external concerns to helping people optimize their hormones, energy, and overall wellness. When someone feels vibrant and healthy, their natural beauty shines even brighter — and that’s the transformation I’m passionate about.

2) What’s one recent happening in health andbeautythattrulyexcitesyou?

I’m incredibly excited about the growing use of peptides and regenerative therapies in aesthetics and wellness. We’re seeing breakthroughs that not only help with skin rejuvenation and hair growth but also support metabolic health, mental clarity, sleep, and inflammation. It’s amazing to have tools that work at a cellular level to help people look better and feel better. It’s no longer about quick fixes — it’s about real, sustainable transformation from within.

Amplify Natural Beauty Instill Confidence

Howdoyou define beautytoday, and how has that definition evolved through your work andimpactintheindustry?

Beauty through the lens of cancer isn’t about appearance — it’s about resilience, authenticity and connection. It’s found in small moments of courage, in the strength to keep going, and in the power of being seen and supported. Cancer redefines beauty, but it never takes it away.
