CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

T

he Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores is pleased to provide you with this handy guide, which is filled with helpful information. The guide lists the nearly 300 members of the Chamber of Commerce who are committed to making our community a great place to live. In their 325-year history, the communities of the Bellmores have grown with a population exceeding that of many cities in the country. The South Shore, with numerous canals and excellent waterways, is an asset to boat owners and fishermen. The community boasts a vibrant and growing business community, along with one of the finest education systems in the state. The Chamber of Commerce gives back to community throughout the year. In early spring, there is the Easter parade, where about 300 children from our area bring their parents for a day of fun in Bellmore Village –– shopping local merchants and receiving free treats. May starts our ever-popular Friday Night Car Show, where more than 400 car owners display their wonderful restored cars from yesterday. Visitors are allowed to view the car show and then stroll down beautiful Bedford Avenue or enjoy a meal in one of our fabulous eateries. In late September or October, we host Nassau County’s largest family-oriented event of its kind, the Bellmore Family Street Festival, which hosts an estimated 120,000-plus visitors. In the fall, there is the Halloween parade, where another 400 children in costume come to town to parade and trick-or-treat the merchants who provide treats. The Santa run takes place the day after Thanksgiving. The chamber brings Santa throughout the Bellmores on a fire truck. The chamber then presents Santa and a free movie to the children at the Bellmore Theater, to the delight of hundreds of families. Our Christmas tree lighting and holiday extravaganza bring horse-drawn carriages and an old-time trolley to the heart of the village. More than 500 families come out to enjoy the holiday spirit. The last event of the year is the annual menorah lighting, which brings together the community to celebrate the festival of lights. Traveling in and around the Bellmores you will notice the chamber’s commitment to beautification and enhancement. Our downtown boasts award-winning revitalization designs, featuring updated architecture and facade improvements that provide an old-fashioned shopping village experience. Our beautiful 9-11 Memorial Park at the North Bellmore Library and the Veterans Memorial Park in Bellmore Village are adorned with seasonal flowers and provide a place for private reflection. The chamber is also pleased to have a strong working relationship with all our elected officials from the town, county and state. Rounding out our partnership is our dedicated police, fire, auxiliary police and emergency medical providers. We rely on them for so much and are very grateful for all their support. We ask you to support your local businesses by shopping locally and helping make the business community prosper and flourish. We look forward to sharing our wonderful community events with you and to keeping the chamber and community partnership thriving.
