Pass Pass the the Torch Torch Pass

The Richmond Alumnae Chapter traces its history back to December 4, 1937, when the first formal meeting of the Beta Epsilon Chapter was held at the home of Grace Hughes. The chapter engaged in many community projects and sponsored its first Jabberwock in March 1938.
On November 15, 1941, members voted in favor of the Regional Director’s decision to form separate graduate and undergraduate chapters. In 1942, the chapter was officially divided into the Beta Epsilon, the undergraduate chapter, and Beta Theta Sigma, the graduate chapter. In 1958, the graduate chapter's name was changed to Richmond Alumnae to comply with the Grand Chapter ruling.
Richmond Alumnae Chapter is a part of Delta Sigma Theta’s Sorority, Inc., South Atlantic Region.

The Emergency Response Team didn’t start the new year with resolutions but we did bring in donations – blood donations. ERT partnered with St. Philip’s Episcopal Church for another successful blood drive on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023. There were 26 donors and 23 units of blood were collected. Those units can help as many as 69 patients! Our own RAC President Vanessa Evans was one of the generous donors. As always, ERT was on hand to help register and greet blood donors at the door. And the “Delta Donor Door Prizes” brought smiles to the faces of our sorors.
If someone collapsed in front of you, what would you do? About 15 sorors and several community members found out Saturday, May 20, after Chapter Meeting at Huguenot High School
Certified American Red Cross Instructor Ed Gates, Sr took participants through an interactive and informative session on CPR and first aid that also kept everyone entertained. Participants learned that the first thing we should do if someone collapses is call 911 While someone calls 911, you should check to see if the person is breathing If they are not breathing, begin CPR if you are trained The CPR mannequins gave participants a real workout in getting trained and certified Mr Gates also covered basic first aid training for cuts, scrapes and burns.
Hopefully the participants will never have to use this training, but in the event they do, they are ready to help in case of emergency
