BUILD IT BETTER

Kaitlyn Wolfe creates one-of-a-kind spaces reflecting minimalistic and modern aesthetics

As the owner and principal designer of Iconic Design + Build (www.iconicdesignbuld.com), Kaitlyn Wolfe is on a mission to transform outdated spaces with fresh, modern details that are equally beautiful and functional. At a young age, Wolfe was instilled with an appreciation for design after her family moved to Elham, England, a small village outside of London. “The experience of living and traveling abroad left me inspired by the character and history of European architecture,” Wolfe says. After earning her MBA and working with a variety of notable architecture and design firms, Wolfe started her business in 2016 with the goal of combining her expertise in construction with distinctive design and unrivaled customer service. At Iconic Design + Build, Wolfe takes each client through a collaborative six-phase process, determining the project scope and budget, designing the home, managing the construction, installing furnishings, and coordinating the final photographs. Her unique aesthetic is a mix of minimalistic Scandinavian design with a dash of Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert-inspired style. “Every project I execute has its own personality, which is driven by the project’s architecture and history combined with my client’s needs and lifestyle,” Wolfe says. “We’ve become known for our modern designs, with clean lines and simple silhouettes. I love experimenting with warmer tones and mixing materials like terrazzo, concrete, steel and natural stone.” For those looking to revamp their space during quarantine, Wolfe emphasizes the importance of curating an overall vision with a specific goal in mind. “Create an action plan organized by priority and budget. Start with the spaces that are used most, whether the office, family room or kitchen,” says Wolfe, who also offers an e-design service that includes a virtual consultation, project vision boards, 3D renderings, and an action plan to help you revamp your home no matter where you live. “Invest in comfortable seating, rugs, hardware and lighting and think about what makes you happy.” Much of Wolfe’s happiness is found in the natural world, and she uses that to influence her designs. “I gather my inspiration from traveling and visiting famous hotels and restaurants,” she says. “In my spare time, you might find me hiking or camping in a national park!”
