DOCTORS of the DESERT

Making Miracles

Dr. Millie Behera, MD, FACOG, FRCSC of Bloom Reproductive Institute MOST PEOPLE DREAM of having children, and for those who find it doesn’t come as easy, Dr. Millie Behera, the medical director and founder of Bloom Reproductive Institute, helps makes those dreams a reality. Given this, you could say Behera, who has been practicing reproductive medicine for more than 10 years and is also an adjunct faculty member at University of Arizona and Duke University, is a miracle maker of sorts – and it’s a task the compassionate, kind-hearted physician doesn’t take lightly. Having completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and fertility at Duke University followed by practicing academic medicine there, Behera founded Bloom Reproductive Institute in 2015 to address the unique needs of fertility patients and their health care challenges on a more personalized level. “We wanted patients to have a place where they feel comfortable and supported in every aspect of their fertility treatment, with a team of providers who are not only experts but have genuine compassion,” says Behera, who is board-certified in both OB/GYN and reproductive endocrinology and fertility. Behera specializes in all aspects of these vocations, including in vitro fertilization, genetic testing, egg freezing/fertility preservation, and fertility enhancing surgery. The practice’s success rates are among the highest nationwide, even higher than the national average, and still rising. Behera attributes this to the practice’s state-ofthe-art IVF laboratory technology and expertise. The personalized approach to fertility is also a major factor in patients’ success rates and feeling at ease throughout their journey. “Each couple or person is different, and they deserve a unique treatment plan. We aim to create a unique bond with each patient where they feel supported, have their questions answered, and can speak with us about anything. We are all dedicated to our patients and their dream of becoming parents.” Behera and her practice’s philosophy is summarized by the four Es: Expertise, Experience, Ethics and Empathy, all of which are evident in the way Behera – a mother of four herself – handles the delicate situation faced by patients trying to conceive.

Like any career in medicine, fertility can be rife with challenges, yet these trying challenges also present the greatest reward for Behera. “I love taking on each challenge as it comes, as difficult as it may be, as the reward is even greater when we are able to overcome complex health issues to achieve a successful pregnancy with a healthy baby.” It’s clear that the evolution of Bloom Reproductive Institute and Behera’s patients continues to, well, bloom. “My favorite part of the journey is the moment I get to meet babies after they are born,” Behera says. “It feels like we are always connected and we are able to watch that baby grow from a tiny egg to the first little heartbeat to the precious little child in front of me. “The most rewarding aspect is helping bring new life into this world as we help patients achieve their dream of parenthood.” TO LEARN MORE ABOUT BLOOM REPRODUCTIVE INSTITUTE, CALL 480.434.6565 OR VISIT WWW.FERTILITYBLOOM.COM.
