From convincing friends to buy wine out of the back of her car to being one of the founding members of ONEHOPE Wine (www.onehopewine.com), a worldclass winery located in the heart of Napa Valley, Kristen Shroyer is a fourth-generation Arizonan on a mission. Born and raised in Scottsdale, Shroyer grew up working in the restaurant industry. She eventually left the demanding hospitality hours behind after college, accepting a job selling wine in high-traffic grocery stores. It was there she met her ONEHOPE co-founders and the idea of distributing wine with a philanthropic twist was born. The company’s mission is to bring together a community that makes the world better place through memorable wine and experiences. With that, each ONEHOPE product supports a charitable cause. “Our award-winning wines portfolio is primarily produced in collaboration with Rob Mondavi Jr., and, to date, we’ve donated more $3 million to our partner nonprofits,” shares Shroyer, who, beyond co-founding ONEHOPE, also serves as its vice president of national accounts. Beyond that, to date, ONEHOPE has provided 56,915 homes for shelter animals, more than 2 million meals for children, over 200,000 lifesaving vaccines, 105,044 trees for reforestation projects and more. It’s taken a lot of hard work to get ONEHOPE to where it is today, and Shroyer promises the wine industry isn’t one big glamorous party. “It’s been an extremely challenging road building a business in such a competitive industry with a very difficult distribution system,” Shroyer says. “However, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some amazing people and having a delicious sample in your wine bag at the end of the day is pretty great, too.” Known for their signature, glittery bottles of wine, ONEHOPE is gearing up for the holidays with limited-edition gift sets and private in-home parties that make an impact in the community by raising funds for a cause the party host cares about. On top of the donations built into every product, an additional 10 percent of event order sales go toward a nonprofit of a person’s choice. “Our community is what makes us unique,” Shroyer says. “There are many great wine companies out there, but we have a bigger mission of making the world a better place as we drink great wine.”
