Sorso Wine Room Former professional baseball player Mark Teahen and wife Lauren’s lives changed forever after a fateful trip to Italy in 2014, where they were introduced to a Wine Emotion winedispensing system at a local winery. Thanks to Wine Emotion and its temperature-regulated tap system, which holds several bottles of wine and keeps them from spoiling for up to a month, the Teahens were able to customize their own wine tasting and choose full pours, small tastes or even just little sips from more than 30 types of wine at the touch of a button. Inspired, the Teahens opened Sorso – which is Italian for “sip” – in 2015 with their own Wine Emotion system, which allows guests to choose one-, three- or six-ounce pours from more than 30 wines from across the globe. They also have an exceptional list of other wines by the glass or bottle, not to mention craft beers, delicious food and even a small retail center where guests can pick and choose wines, gourmet bakery items and wine-themed gifts to take home. www.sorsowineroom.com.

LDV Wine Gallery The award-winning LDV Winery is located on 40 acres in the foothills of the Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona, more than four hours from Scottsdale. Due to the remote setting of the winery estate, the quest for the best place closer to the winery’s market began in 2014. The goals for the tasting room were challenging: Find a cozy building in an urban setting with flexible space for events and activities, shady outdoor spaces and a wine country feel where one would actually be surprised not to see a vineyard out the back door. Enter a 1950s bungalow in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale, which is now the LDV Wine Gallery. The gallery celebrates all things Arizona by showcasing local artisans on-site as well as partnering with fellow Arizona small businesses to offer handcrafted gifts and artwork along with tastes, glasses and bottles of its estate wines. They also put on an interactive “sip and learn” seminar each month, where they teach everything from basic wine education and food pairing to wine- and candy-making over a few glasses of wine. www.ldvwinetastingscottsdale.com. Su Vino Winery It’s fitting that “Su Vino” means “your wine” in both Italian and Spanish, as the Downtown Scottsdale winery does just that: allows you to make your own wine right on-site. Not only does Su Vino sell its own wines by the taste, glass or bottle, but they can customize a wine to any guest’s palate and they welcome guests to actually participate in the wine-making process by bottling and corking their own wine to take home. What’s more, they also work with guests to create their own personalized labels for their wines, making them a hot destination for holiday gifts, promotional items and wedding favors. www.suvinowineryaz.com.
