r. Semone B. Rochlin, a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon, seemed destined to be in the medical field. Her father was a physician, and as a child she would go with him to his office and sit in his lap while he read x-rays. “Dad was down to earth,” she says. “It’s where I learned my bedside manner.” Dr. Rochlin offers tummy tucks, breast augmentation, blepharoplasty, and non-invasive procedures such as dermal fillers and botox. She believes her greatest strength is that she brings a woman’s perspective to her work. “I know what women want because I want it,” she explains. Dr. Rochlin establishes a caring relationship with her patients, and leaves her ego out of the practice. “I listen to my patients,” she says. “I’m a great listener, and I educate my patients, so they can make the best decision for themselves. Dr. Rochlin first began her medical career by obtaining her BSN from

Arizona State University and working as an Intensive Care Unit nurse. Realizing how much she wanted to know in the medical field, she attended the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa to become a physician. “The knowledge base was limiting, and I wanted to know more,” she says. Her internships included a traditional internship at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, and a general and trauma surgery residency at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in San Bernardino, California. Dr. Rochlin also participated in two fellowships in burn and reconstructive surgery and in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Rochlin began her cosmetic surgery practice in 2008 at a challenging time in the economy, and is proud of the growth and longevity of her practice. “They don’t teach you business in medical school,” she says. “I like to say I have an MBA in the school of hard knocks.” She is very pleased with the team that

she has in place at her practice, which has locations in Scottsdale and Gilbert. “I finally have a great staff,” she says. “We work well and complement each other. Kalie Scully, my aesthetician, has been here since she graduated from school in 2013 and she’s a terrific member of the staff.” A new service that she is offering is J-Plasma, an innovative skin resurfacing treatment. J-Plasma resurfaces the skin using inert helium gas and removes fine lines and uneven coloring. Other benefits are: lifts and tightens the skin around the eyes, mouth, and lower face; erases freckles, age spots and uneven coloring; and reduces scarring and associated skin discoloration. J-Plasma can enhance other facial cosmetic procedures by softening under eye wrinkles, tightening the eyebrow area, and smoothing the skin on the lower cheeks.
