ith the likes of a real ice rink, cookies with Claus and holiday lights aplenty, nobody helps Valley residents celebrate the season in a very merry way more than three of Scottsdale’s resorts.

Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

As one of the best and brightest places for holiday cheer, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is set to be more spectacular than ever. Through Jan. 1, 2017, the resort will transform into a winter wonderland during its annual Christmas at the Princess festival, glistening with a four-story musical tree, an ice rink, and a train that takes you on a journey through twinkling lights, plus new holiday characters, shows and attractions. Get your wintry fix at the Desert Ice Rink – made with real ice – where skaters will experience magical snowfalls. Nearby rink-side fire pit tables are the coziest spot to enjoy all the merriment under a starry sky. Another icy element is the new Polar

Glide Slide, surrounded by campfires where you can make s’mores or sip on one of the holiday-themed cocktails. At the Lagoon Lights, 3 million LEDs illuminate majestic scenes of graceful swans, a pirate ship, a candy cane forest, and an infinity tunnel capable of 256 million color combinations. www.scottsdaleprincess.com. The Westin Kierland’s nightly lightshow extravaganza is unlike any other, where the walls of the resort come alive with PaintScaping – themed 3-D images and animations set to holiday music. Using the 11-story resort as a gigantic canvas, this year’s enhanced show includes brandnew characters, animations and music. PaintScaping shows will take place nightly through Dec. 31. An outdoor holiday display will feature 12,000 LED lights atop the building and 100,000 lights wrapped in the trees around the grounds. The extensive display continues with more than 20 Christmas trees, nearly 300 red and white poinsettias, and 20 wreaths in sizes up to five feet around! Before the festivities, enjoy a nightly bagpipe performance and holiday cocktail around a fire pit on the resort’s scenic Dreamweavers Canyon, which overlooks the golf course. www.kierlandresort.com.
