Then wear it!” Ladies, you can trust this fashion advice, as it comes from the posh and polished Mrs. Arizona America 2012, Kirin Christianson. As a model, pageant coach, beauty and style contributor, and founder of Red Haute Mama (www.redhautemama.com), fashion plays an integral part in Christianson’s career. Even as a young girl, Christianson loved to stand out with fashion-forward pieces. “One day, in seventh grade, I was so excited to wear my black-and-white houndstooth skinny jeans; emerald green tunic; and wrap-around, red leather studded belt. Let’s just say my little rural school wasn’t quite ready for that,” she laughs. Christianson’s style is best described as vibrant, approachable, and savvy with ultra-feminine details. And what’s more feminine than a flattering dress? “I’m always wearing a dress,” she says, commenting on their elegant simplicity. “It’s one thing to buy, one thing to wear, and one thing to wash.” Whether she is onstage in an ornate ballgown or lounging at home with her family in a simple dress, one thing is for sure – all eyes are on Kirin Christianson when she walks into a room.

What are your favorite shops in the Valley? Fashion by Robert Black has the best vintage dresses. I also love going to Glam Squad for color-rich gowns and DSW because shoes and sales are my two favorite words. What was it like to win the title Mrs. Arizona America 2012? It was a dream come true! I’ve met many of my best friends through pageants. Beauty queens are some of the nicest women you’ll ever meet – and they really do want world peace. For mothers who want to be comfortable yet still fashionable, do you have any tips for them? Buy yourself three to five figureflattering dresses that are on sale and make you feel pretty (and that you can comfortably eat a meal in!).
