risha Hendricks of Phoenix’s 12 News is proud to call herself not only a Scottsdale resident but also a third-generation Sun Devil. Her grandfather was a big-time football player for the university in the 1950s, and Hendricks happily carried on the family’s tradition, attending ASU to study broadcast journalism. “I decided to pursue a career in journalism to help make a difference in people’s lives,” she says. Upon graduation, Hendricks soon made her mark in the world of reporting. She began her career in Montana and after two years, she received a call from 12 News to be a multimedia journalist, planner, prouder and fill-in traffic anchor. Hendricks eagerly accepted the offer to continue her passion in her home state. Now in her sixth year with 12 News, Hendricks is a force to be reckoned with. This Emmy-nominated journalist has covered a wide range of stories including Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford’s shooting in Tucson and the largest wildfire in Arizona history, the Wallow Fire. Catch her while you can; Hendricks is certainly always on the go, exploring Arizona to ensure that residents are delivered quality news.

Etc.

What do you enjoy most about delivering news to Valley residents? Every day I have the privilege of meeting new Arizonans and then sharing their stories and opinions. I love the endless opportunities to learn new things and inform people, whether I’m covering breaking news or fun features. You are getting married this coming fall! How do you plan a wedding while being under tight deadlines in your career? It takes a lot of time management, organization and communication. My fiance and I make a great team. Tell us about your soon-to-be-husband. How did you two meet? My fiance and I met on a Saturday night in Old Town Scottsdale four years ago when we were both out with friends. We dated long distance for two years because I was reporting in Flagstaff at the time, but we didn’t miss a weekend together. In August, he proposed to me in the most beautiful way and I said YES! We couldn’t be happier! SO SCOTTSDALE! |
