aura L. Bush, Ph.D. has a simple goal: “Make the world a better place one book at a time.” The Jackson Hole, Wyoming native earned her Ph.D. in English (with an emphasis in autobiographical studies) from Arizona State University followed by a career teaching at ASU, where she published her book Faithful Transgressions in the American West: Six Twentieth-Century Mormon Women’s Autobiographical Acts. In 2012, she left ASU to pursue her own publishing firm, Peacock Proud Press. At Peacock, she guides first time authors through the writing and publishing process, but she won’t publish just any book. “Books must meet our quality standards for a professionally edited book that will transform the life of our authors and their readers,” she insists. Bush works with philanthropists, community leaders, successful entrepreneurs, and sought-after speakers looking to expand their visibility and establish themselves as an authority in their field. Peacock also publishes

beautifully crafted coffee table books that capture the legacy of inspiring leaders. Thanks to Bush’s impressive background, any author she works with is guaranteed intelligent feedback and high-quality service. “Distance is no barrier,” she says. Bush and her carefully selected team work virtually with authors all over the country. Outside of editing and publishing, Peacock Proud Press offers ghostwriting services, writing retreats, and private and group coaching. Bush recently launched an e-course entitled, “How to Write, Edit, and Self-Publish Your Book,” and she plans on holding a virtual writing retreat in the near future. In the meantime, she will be launching the firm’s first full color coffee table book from the “Life and Legacy Coffee Table Books” series, about the life of Clarene Law, an entrepreneur in the hospitality and tourism industries, a former Wyoming state legislator, and a dedicated philanthropist. Law is exactly the type of woman whom Bush wants the world to learn about.

She’s someone who has overcome adversity, courageously built a successful business, and is sharing her story to offer hope and inspiration to other women. She’s the type of woman Bush is herself. Bush dedicates much of her free time serving her community. She spent fourteen years as a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona. In 2007 she was honored with the “Barry Starr Volunteer of the Year” award. She is currently a member of the Phoenix chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. In November 2020, she was selected as one of the seventy “College Leaders” by ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The prestigious program started in 1997, and each year four leaders are selected out of the school’s 130,000+ alumni for their outstanding achievement in business, research, and community service. Her Clarene Law coffee table book will hit the shelves this fall, with more inspiring books sure to follow. Contact 480.696.1327 or www.peacockproud.com.
