What is the inspiration behind it? TEAL MARKET was created as an outlet for creativity and personal expression influenced by modern art, fashion and architecture. We place an emphasis on fostering connections with our customers and love to provide our expertise when you need the perfect piece to complete your look. How did you get into design? There was always something about the art of fashion that excited me. Studying fashion in college helped me polish my design sense and discover other industry roles. I was enamored with fashion buying and my buying experience now provides the foundation for TEAL MARKET. What designers do you look up to the most? Growing up I admired Marc Jacobs and loved his unconventional ad campaigns. Now, as a small business owner, I am inspired by emerging artists who work hard to bring their ideas to life. What has been your greatest achievement? Starting my own business and getting my brand into retailers across the country. What about your greatest challenge? Juggling company responsibilities without a large employee base is challenging. I wear a lot of hats to balance the business workload while trying to stay in a creative space. What advice would you give to an aspiring designer? Just start somewhere and don’t get hung up on every little detail. Remember, you can always pivot along the way and narrow or shift your focus. Be sure to set aside time for your creative passions as it is far too easy to stay busy with all the backend work.
