Crackdown catches speeding drivers
GCSE candidates at Chipping Sodbury School pick up their results. TEACHERS at schools and sixth forms in Yate and Chipping Sodbury say students' success in this year's GCSEs and A-levels is fully deserved. The cancellation of the usual exams led to grades being awarded through a process of teacher assessment, marked against a national standard. And while there has been national comment about an increase in the number of top grades, teachers insist the results truly reflect not only ability but students' "grit and determination".
NOW AVAILABLE TO TEST DRIVE
Brimsham Green head teacher Kim Garland said: "Imagine not knowing whether you were working towards an examination or not. "Imagine needing to develop good competency with technology first, so that you could access your remote lessons. And then imagine completing ongoing assessments over many months, knowing everything you did counted." Results round-up, pages 8-13
