Clubs celebrate sporting success Western League football is on the cards for Chipping Sodbury FC, as rugby club and Yate FC also find reason to celebrate.
The sweet smell of success in in the spring air as the long winter season draws to a close. Clubs in both Yate and Chipping Sodbury are celebrating achievements both on the pitch and off it. Western League football is within the grasp of Chipping Sodbury Town FC after a programme of works at their Ridings ground. A stand, hard standing and fencing have been installed, and on the pitch a top five finish has put them in the frame for the higher division. At Lodge Road, despite the changes in the senior side, Yate’s Under 18’s have done the double, winning their league and lifting the cup too. Followers of the oval ball are also celebrating after Chipping Sodbury secured promotion to the Gloucester Premier League. More details in Sport, starting page 35.
