IT STARTED WITH A TEA CUP
The Richard Brendon brand was born from a fascination with food, drink and design — and a discovery on London’s Portobello Road. In 2009, while still at design school, Richard came across a market stall overflowing with “orphan saucers” — beautiful antique pieces missing their teacups. Learning from the dealer that teacups are far more likely to break, leaving behind stacks of these intricate saucers, Richard was inspired to give them a second life. The result, after much trial, error and dogged determination, was Reflect – a mirrored teacup that reflects the pattern of whatever saucer it is paired with, giving it a new life and companion.
Reflect was an immediate success, attracting attention from Liberty, Bergdorf Goodman, and Le Bon Marché. But the biggest win of all was that in creating Reflect, Richard had been introduced to the historic ceramics industry of Stoke-on-Trent. There, he met master craftspeople whose skill and knowledge had been passed down through generations. At its height in the 1980s, Stoke’s ceramics industry employed 50,000 people, but by the beginning of this century this figure was closer to 5,000. Struck by their artistry and dedication Richard saw an opportunity to revive this legacy while creating something new.

In 2013, Richard Brendon established his eponymous brand with a mission: to make tableware that combines outstanding design, exceptional craftsmanship and the finest materials.
Richard Brendon swiftly became a supplier to some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and restaurants with bespoke tableware and glassware.
Today, we work closely with some of the world’s most skilled craftspeople, using traditional and contemporary methods to create the greatest tableware. Every piece is designed to be used, and to last, not only raising the bar at special occasions, but enhancing and elevating everyday dining and drinking too.

The Universal Wine Glass at the heart of the collection is the only stemmed glass you will need to enjoy every wine at its best, including sparkling wines, port, sherry, sweet wines and beyond.
Available in two variants, the Original mouth-blown glass, which is gossamer thin and entirely handmade; and the Precision glass, which is machine-made and formed of slightly thicker glass.

THE OCCASIONAL WINE COLLECTION
The Occasional Wine Glass Collection consists of three glasses, designed with special occasions in mind. Created to complement and supplement the Jancis Robinson Universal wine glass, these glasses are mouth-blown by master glassblowers, gossamer thin, and perfectly balanced. They are an absolute joy to drink from, and they make any glass of wine, however ordinary the occasion, more pleasurable and more memorable.

Richard Brendon’s Diamond Collection is comprised of contemporary Cut Crystal barware that demonstrates the finest pairing of craftsmanship and design. Richard Brendon’s Optic Collection is a contemporary homage to 15th Century European Glassblowing. Using exactly the same handcrafted techniques, each piece features refined, tight ribbing throughout the height of the glass, whilst the base is polished totally flat to create a striking visual and clean contrast against the tactile design.
The collection comes in both a classic clear and subtle smoke colour, offering both beauty and versatility in the contemporary or classic home.

Every Richard Brendon product is designed meticulously with both aesthetic and function at front of mind. Despite the high grade materials used, it’s easier than you might think to care for your Crystal and Bone China products at home.
GLASS CARE
Our glassware is lead-free and produced by master craftspeople with great care, representing some of the highest quality standards in the industry. In order to properly maintain your glassware, we encourage you to follow our care and cleaning instructions to ensure their longevity and to enhance your enjoyment of our products.
DISHWASHING:
We recommend washing drinking glasses in the dishwasher to avoid unnecessary handling.
DISHWASHER GUIDANCE:
◊ Adhere to the dishwasher manufacturer’s advice on machine adjustments, as well as the amount of detergent, rinse aid, and salt to use. Ensure your dishwasher receives regular maintenance as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
◊ Depending on your area’s water condition, you may need to consider water softening agents. Please consult your appliance handbook for further guidance.
◊ It’s crucial to maintain the cleanliness of the strainer inserts, filters, spray arms, and nozzles.
◊ Place glassware on the top shelf of your dishwasher ensuring adequate space between each piece so they do not clink together during the cycle. If you have a dedicated glass washer (ie. not for dishes or cutlery), we recommend you use this. If your dishwasher has a specific holder for stemmed glasses, this can offer additional protection during the cycle. Your machine may allow for adjustment of the height of the top shelf to allow more room - please consult your appliance handbook for more information.
◊ Opt for a gentle or specific glassware cycle that uses a lower temperature and the minimum necessary wash time. Look for a cycle with a glass symbol - our glassware is dishwasher-safe up to a maximum temperature of 60°C as high temperatures can encourage the corrosion of glass.
◊ After the wash cycle finishes, open the dishwasher door to let out the steam. Wait for the glasses to cool down before taking them out.
◊ To prevent smudges on stemware, handle the glasses by the stem or base.
HAND-WASHING:
If you cannot wash your glasses in a dishwasher, you can wash them by hand.
GENERAL CLEANING:
◊ Use a mild detergent and warm water. Fill the glasses half way, and let the glass soak before thoroughly and gently rinsing. Place upside-down on linen to drain.
◊ Where possible, remove rings from your fingers before handling, and avoid knocking the glasses on the sink, taps, or other items to prevent chips or breakages.
ADDITIONAL CARE:
Normally your glass washer should steam and dry your glasses so they come out ready to use. However, if your glassware requires further polishing, please carefully follow the below guidance.
◊ Use either one extra-large or two large microfibre (lint-free) polishing cloths to wick away residual moisture and gently polish when necessary. Avoid using tea towels, dinner napkins or other non-absorbent fabrics as this will increase the time spent polishing and therefore increase the likelihood of cracking or breaking the glass in the process.
◊ Hold the bowl of the glass with a cloth in one hand and tuck the remaining fabric into the bowl of the glass. Whilst cupping the bowl, gently move the glass in a circular motion to remove any residual moisture. Once the bowl is dry, use the cloth to polish the stem and the foot, ensuring your bare hands do not touch the bowl of the glass.
◊ Ensure never to hold the foot of a stemmed glass with one hand whilst polishing the bowl with the other. This will put tension on the stem and may lead to breakage.
CLOUDING PREVENTION:
◊ Our glassware is made with lead-free glass which makes them resistant to clouding.
◊ If clouding does occur for any reason, you can soak the glass in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water and this should remove stubborn marks.
BONE CHINA CARE
The wonderful thing about Bone China is it is incredibly easy to clean, which makes it perfect for everyday use. The majority of our Bone China pieces can be washed in a dishwasher.
DISHWASHING:
Please note, that hand-washing is recommended for pieces that contain real gold and real platinum.

◊ On un-decorated, white Bone China only, soak stubborn stains in a mild bleach solution for up to one hour.
◊ Do not use abrasive scouring pads or abrasive washing agents, this could damage the product.
MICROWAVE USE:
◊ Bone China is microwave-safe. However, pieces that include real gold or platinum are not, and should not be used in the microwave.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
To prevent damage to your Bone China pieces we recommend:
◊ Avoid sliding plates over each other during storage, as this may cause tiny scratches in the glaze.
◊ Place a soft barrier, such as a paper napkin, between each plate to prevent tiny scratches in the glaze.
◊ For mugs, consider storing mugs right way up in order to reduce the likelihood of chipping the rim.
BONE CHINA 3-YEAR CHIP WARRANTY
Our commitment to your customers is that our products are made to be enjoyed every day, for this generation and the next; dispelling the myth that Bone China is fragile. It is in fact up to 30% stronger than all other porcelains.
Our 3 Year Chip Warranty is your assurance that all Bone China products manufactured in our UK potteries will withstand daily, private residential usage and remain chip free.
CUSTOMER REGISTRATION FOR THE CHIP WARRANTY
The Chip Warranty is available to any customers who have purchased through our retail partners in the UK and US only.
Customers who have purchased through retail partners will be required to provide their name, email address and postal address to Richard Brendon Ltd which will be stored and used as a record of Warranty cover. All data capture will be in accordance with Richard Brendon’s Privacy Policy and standard Business Terms and Conditions.
