The design project of a wooden chest hosting an exclusive Hotel and SPA, a place immerse in nature with the astonishing view of Mont Blanc and Mont Chétif.
The creation of the new Reba Palace Hotel in Courmayeur aims to create a contemporary architecture structure well embedded in the architectural tradition of the Valle D’Aosta region.
The project is the result of a co-design between the italian architectural firm LAA Lorena Alessio Architects, where I’m working, and the japanise architect Kengo Kuma. The concept is recalling a special sense of beauty, where Japanese delicateness and Italian atmosphere melt into a unique design. The project involves the use of local and sustainable materials, as a continuous relation with the naturalistic surrounding, still defining a highly contemporary building. Façade are in glass and steel with the wooden light filtering over-façade providing a rhythm of shadows and light in the hotel interiors. In fact, the exterior facade is featured by having long natural larch boards vertically positioned defining a unique aspect of the building and guarantying interior privacy.
Most of the hotel rooms enjoy an overview at the beautiful Mount Blanc, while others overlook an intimate larches wood. Attached to the hotel is the main spa and massage centre. High ceiling spaces, connection to the exteriors provide a challenging space immerse in nature and water.
The building is composed like a “nest”, surrounded by nature and designed to blend with the woods in order to define a coherence and continuity of sensations, direct relation with nature, relaxation and surprise.

An experimental project exploring the potential of poplar plywood for the construction of prefabricated portal structures. laa’s research has resulted in the design of a new construction joint – named PoplyHouse – intended to apport considerable advantages in drywall construction. The project is located next to the E.Vigolungo plywood manufacture, in an industrial area, still being in a green context with wonderful views toward the Roero wineries . The building is highly technological, and it offers a highly comfortable interior atmosphere, thanks to a very natural environment given by the use of poplar in all the building components. Between the structural portals, a “wall-library” divides showroom and offices defining a visual continuity of material and geometries. Orange colored poplar plywood characterizes kitchenette and bathroom. In order to experiment the potentiality of E. Vigolungo products. Structurally, the building consists of two sleeves, respectively 4 and 6 meters, with six portals made by an interlocking system connecting two 25+25mm poplar plywood boards previously cut by CNC machine. All infill components (floor and roof slab, external walls) are prefabricated and made by poplar plywood panels “box”, infilled with double density wood fiber insulation, soundproofing panels and wooden stand. The external walls have a ventilated façade, realized with heat-treated and weather-resistant poplar strips. The use of prefabricated and inter-connected elements ensures great ease and speed of installation, assembly and disassembly. In addition to these other advantages are intrinsic to poplar plywood. Lightweight, light shaded coloring and easy to work Poplar is a very sustainable material, deriving not from forest but from cultivation. Characterized by a short renewability cycle, the poplar tree develops completely in about ten years and does not exhaust agriculture lands.

Dwelling’s restoration sites in a historic building ofdowntown Turin. The project’s goal was to divide old and large apartments in smaller with a maximum of two bedrooms each, optimal size for tourists rental. The minimal design made by withe walls and the simple texture of materials like wood and steel give value to the beauty of brick ceiling. The client wanted a minimal design with vintage details and reuse of typical Italian wood and concrete floor of XIX century. I was in charge for whole phases of the project: research and purchase of investment, project, documents and site manager.

TASK: Competition
SCOPE: Urban design, Square
This is an inspired project that wants to express an emotion and communicate a message by searching for it in the heritage of Sardinian traditions, especially in the textile handicraft sector. The emotions generated by the beauty of the textures that make up traditional decorations have been reinterpreted in the project with these geometric games, revisited in a modern key, on rigid panels with the aim of sheltering us from the sun and wind. The sun will bring back those textures engraved in the panels under our feet thanks to intricate shadowy games, creating a surface “embroidered by light” giving the suggestive illusion of walking on a vibrant carpet of bright. The purpose is to show and highlight the compositional possibilities of this game of almost obsessive entanglements, to suggest a new approach to legacy production, which is geared to new discoveries and needs. Giving back to the world a knowledge to be communicated with a new language that becomes an invisible thread connecting the past with the future, only so that Made in Sardinia will continue to be an excellence transferable.

Social housing building in South America is an important theme for a developed country like Chile which so far hasn’t solved the housing problems for poor people. During last years the government has invested capitals to provide respectable dwelling for chilean people and this project won capital to realise this complex in a Valparaiso hill.
The building is composed by two blocks whose 4 floors follows the hill slope with a central courtyard which provides the access to the apartments and divides the blocks. The housing complex has 23 apartment on different levels: 9 duplex 3 rooms apartments, 8 duplex 2 rooms apartments 6 triplex 3 rooms apartments.
The building structure is the typical steel balloon frame used in Chile for light building and earthquake resistance, because Chile is one of the most seismic countries in the word. All the materials employed for the project are light: the walls are made of plasterboard, OSB wood, insulating panel, waterproof membrane and the exterior covered by typical metal sheets used during the construction of XIX century historical houses of Valparaiso, material arrived from the old containers of the city naval port.
