LandlordBC travels across B.C. Thirteen communities benefit from landlord education In 2019, LandlordBC was selected by the Honourable Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, to develop and administer educational workshops for rental housing providers as part of the recommendations put forth by the B.C.’s Rental Housing Task Force. The Task Force advocated for increased learning opportunities for both landlords and renters on their rights and responsibilities. As a result, last autumn the LandlordBC team travelled across the province to deliver a series of regional educational workshops for landlords, property managers and resident caretakers. We visited 13 communities in seven of the eight provincial regions — it was great to meet so many of you at these workshops and to engage in a candid conversation about your experiences, successes and challenges while operating in this sector. Landlord 101 was an interactive workshop that focused on introducing participants to several pieces of legislation that govern the rental housing sector in B.C. Hunter Boucher, director of operations at LandlordBC, was keen to share the tools and fundamental knowledge needed for successful tenancies. Topics included the basics of the Residential Tenancy Act, the Human Rights Code, and important privacy guidelines from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. For those who were unable to attend a seminar, LandlordBC organized a two-part webinar that was offered in February. Part two of these workshops was scheduled to take place this April and May. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these workshops have
