Can-do developments for Web site Business & Enterprise School
KS3 curriculum: Students follow a diverse curriculum designed to balance National requirements with a desire to ensure the development of skills and attitudes that will prepare each student for the challenges of further study both at Rhyddings and beyond. Year 7: For September 2013 each subject has identified a number of specific skills that will enable students to become more effective learners within that area of study, and increase their capability to achieve in and out of lessons. Year 7 have already been introduced to these skills during the first half-term through their involvement in a range of “Cando” projects within each subject. For example, already this year students have... •
demonstrated their Scientific literacy, numeracy and practical skills by attempting to help Science Mouse in his plans to escape the Lab,
•
used their Geographical mapping skills to plan and then execute an expedition to conquer the heights of Pendle Hill,
•
looked at the design process and how ACCESSFM can assist in their Design & Technology learning, whether they are rapid-prototyping 3D models or ensuring the optimum rise for the perfect scone.
Across the next 2 ½ years, in each subject area, students will be challenged to improve on their current skill levels whilst investigating a range of Big Questions that will engage and exercise their “learning muscles” and so enable them to develop greater knowledge and deeper understanding of the world around them.
