LETTER FROM THE CLUB MANAGER

Dear Members,

As we move into a busy and exciting spring season, I would like to share a few important updates with you.

First, I kindly ask that you take a moment to complete our event survey if you haven’t already. Your feedback is incredibly valuable and plays a crucial role in helping us create events that you truly enjoy while developing new ideas to increase overall club utilization We greatly appreciate your input and engagement.

You may have noticed that the pool is currently under maintenance as we repair the liner and fix the lights inside the pool We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this improvement project and look forward to reopening it for everyone to enjoy as soon as possible.

After a brief cold spell, it is wonderful to welcome back the warm weather. The course conditions continue to improve because of it, and we are excited about the great playing conditions ahead.

Finally, we look forward to celebrating Easter with you and your families. Chef is preparing a fantastic brunch, and we anticipate a wonderful gathering with our membership.

Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you around the club!

Warm Regards,

Bunker Etiquette Reminder: Small Details, Big Difference

Bunkers are one of the most important areas where etiquette directly impacts the next group. A few reminders that help keep conditions consistent for everyone:

Rake placement: Please place rakes on the low side of the bunker with the rake head in the sand and the handle sticking out—think half in / half out so it’s easy to see and doesn’t interfere with play.

Exit points: Never exit up a bunker face. It damages the edge, increases washouts, and creates more repair work (and worse lies) for the next players. Exit from the lowest, flattest area whenever possible. After your shot: Please tap your shoes off just outside the bunker before stepping back onto closely mown turf. This helps keep sand off collars, approaches, and greens, which protects turf health and improves overall playing conditions.

We appreciate everyone taking an extra moment here bunker quality is a shared responsibility

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GOLF CONT.

Formal Hole-in-One Club Launching

We’re excited to introduce a formal Hole-in-One Club, designed to shine a brighter light on one of golf’s most memorable achievements. Registration opens via email on March 5th. Keep an eye out for the Golf Genius Registration Invite. All program details will be included in the registration form. If you’ve ever made an ace or hope your next one is around the corner this is a fun way to be part of a special tradition at BCC.

Walkers: Sand Bottles Required

A big thank-you to the many walkers who already do this consistently: All walkers are required to take a sand bottle onto the golf course. Even without a club cart, every golfer is still responsible for basic course care divots and sand are part of the courtesy that keeps BCC in great shape for the entire membership.

If you ever need a bottle before you head out, please stop by the golf shop— we’re happy to help.

AGRONOMY UPDATE

Dear Members,

The month of February continued to bring us cooler and dry weather. During one of our cold fronts, we experienced abnormally cold temperatures that produced 2 hard frosts. We received 3 brief rain events that added up to just under 1 inch of rain for the month The course had a temporary period of discoloration due to the cold, however after some enhanced liquid fertilizer applications along with fertility/acid injection the color and health of the golf course improved I mentioned last month the increase of traffic management with increased ropes, stakes, and signage. There appears to be some progress being made here and with warmer weather and continued practice we should see further improvement this month. We appreciate everyone adhering to entry and exit posts and being aware of these roped and staked off areas

Although we are experiencing adverse weather conditions, the putting greens are exhibiting good health and playability. We have been able to mitigate salts much better with the ability to lower irrigation water ph, which allows our soil amendments and injection efforts to work better to maintain good texture and turf density Due to cooler weather, we have refrained from any needle tine and topdressing Without much growth currently, greens do not recover well nor grow through the sand after regular topdressing As the weather breaks this month we will resume regular programs during our Monday closures.

This past month on the golf course we have been spot spraying liquid fertilizer, spot spraying weeds, and preventatively treating bermudagrass stunt mites We have also been working on attention to details to maintain good curb appeal on the course and in the landscape grounds Upcoming this month we plan to fertilize the golf course wall to wall with granular fertilizer and start our preemergent herbicide programs to help ward off spring and summer weeds. With upcoming extended weather forecast looking positive for warmer temperatures these applications should be well timed for good growth and further weed control We will plan to increase frequency of fertility upcoming on our practice tee for better divot recovery and our ability to utilize the grass more for practice

As we continue to progress through this season we are diligently preparing for women’s and men’s invitiationals as well as other season ending events. We are battling back from a long period with lack of turf growth, so will end with an encouraging note to always fill your divots and repair ball marks on the greens

Yours truly,

JAMIE MCCROSKY

RACQUET SPORTS UPDATE

Dear Members,

As we move into the spring season, I’ve been really impressed by how much action we’re seeing on the courts The facility is busy from morning until night, and it’s great to see so many of you out there making the most of the club.

Our Men’s and Women’s Inter-club leagues and USTA teams are now in high gear, with matches scheduled nearly every day What impresses me most, however, isn’t just the match play, it’s the dedication shown in between. It seems there is a team member on the court practicing nearly every moment of the week, and I am truly loving the passion so many of you are putting into perfecting and improving your games.

Our pickleball community is growing as well! Our monthly events are reaching new heights and our welcoming group loves to see new faces to introduce to our game. For those looking to level up their play, Jay Jaudon has some fantastic new pickleball clinic offerings specifically for the spring

I also want to send a huge shout-out to all of our Junior players. These athletes work hard all year round to prepare for the tennis season, and they are currently right in the thick of it. Seeing their hard work pay off on the match courts is a highlight for all of us on the racquet sport staff.

Thank you all for your continued participation and for the support you show to all of our programs. It is your enthusiasm that makes the club such a special place to play.

See you on the courts,
