Inaugural Honour Roll of Donors to Support the Rhodes Scholarships The creation of the Rhodes Scholarships through the vision and generosity of Cecil Rhodes was one of the most creative and impactful acts of philanthropy in history. The bequest of one man has educated over 7,000 Rhodes Scholars in Oxford, so many of whom have gone on to make valuable contributions to communities around the world. Today, your support is crucial to securing and improving this life-changing opportunity for current and future generations of Rhodes Scholars. Rhodes Scholars from all Rhodes constituencies, and of every generation from the 1930s to those who have just gone down, have contributed generously, as they are able, as have a growing number of other friends of the Scholarships. This Honour Roll of Donors to support the Rhodes Scholarships is the first annual list of our many generous donors, to whom the Rhodes Trust is deeply grateful – as future generations of Rhodes Scholars will be as well. The Honour Roll includes the inaugural members of the Rhodes Society – those who have so fittingly pledged to include the Rhodes Scholarships in their own wills. This Honour Roll enables us to say, simply but sincerely: thank you. Dr Donald Markwell (Queensland & Trinity 1981) Warden of Rhodes House

Donald J. Gogel (New Jersey & Balliol 1971) Chair of the Development Committee for the Rhodes Scholarships
