If you are looking for ways to get involved, please reach out to us at arobertson@RHAwa.org or dbannon@ RHAwa.org. No advocacy effort is too big or too small, we are always looking for members to provide testimony, share their stories, do news interviews, support candidates, and join our committees. Our advocacy efforts are stronger than ever, and we are only getting stronger. Join us in sharing your voice today.

As we have now passed the candidate filing deadline, May 20th, we have the final list of candidates looking to take the many seats up for grabs this year. With all the House seats and half of the Senate seats up for election, there is a huge opportunity to shift the vote counts going into the 2023 Legislative Session.

This year is critical due to the redistricting map shifting almost every district. Moderate, data-observing lawmakers have more opportunities than ever to get elected. In addition to the new legislative districts shaking things up, many lawmakers have decided not to run for re-election. We have seen incredible success recently, especially in the 2022 Legislative Session. We must maintain this momentum by continuing our education and grassroots advocacy to candidates and our communities. RHAWA will be hosting a number of elections for key candidates in our most critical districts. If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser for a candidate you care about, reach out to Daniel Bannon at dbannon@rhawa. org. Add your legislative district to

your Member Compass and keep an eye of your email because we will be sending fundraiser invites to members in the candidate’s district. You can also help housing friendly candidates secure their seats by donating to the RHAWA PAC here: RHAwa.org/products/ donations.

Also, as many members have requested, we will be releasing a Candidate’s Guide once again this year. Stay tuned for a detailed look at the candidates running in the most critical jurisdictions and highlights on housing friendly candidates in every legislative district across the state. This year is shaping up to be one of the most important elections in many years. We have opportunities now that we have not had in a long time, and likely wont have again for many election cycles. If there was ever a time to get involved in grassroots advocacy, it is now. Please join us in our grassroots advocacy effort to help defend your investment and rights as a rental property owner.

In recognition of Tom’s contributions to the apartment industry, The Seattle Times Real Estate Editor wrote on January 13, 2018:

“For more than a decade, The Seattle Times, other media organizations, and official sources like city governments have relied on two competing landlord survey groups for information on the local rental market: Apartment Insights Washington, and Dupre + Scott. The Times has cited those firms’ data in more than 100 stories in the past ten years.”
