CO-CURRICULAR

A snapshot of our co-curricular activities...

We are proud to offer a diverse co-curriculum to encourage students to explore new interests, refine their talents and develop their passions beyond the curriculum. Whether you’re trying something new or pursuing an existing interest at a deeper level, there is something to engage and inspire everyone.

Field Days are really great for diversifying learning opportunities.

FIELD DAYS

Regular Field Days take place throughout the year for all year groups, offering students a rich and diverse programme of co-curricular activities, from surfing and outdoor pursuits to volunteering and creative workshops. These days are a highlight of school life and reflect one of the School’s greatest strengths: our commitment to a wellrounded education. Field Days play a vital role in developing character, encouraging teamwork and fostering leadership and self-reliance.

The DofE Award helps students grow into confident, capable young adults. Offered at Bronze, Silver and Gold level, it encourages independence, teamwork and resilience through outdoor expeditions and volunteering.

Key benefits:

• Builds confidence and leadership;

• Encourages physical activity and wellbeing;

• Develops practical and creative skills;

• Promotes community involvement;

• Recognised by employers.

PERIOD 8 ACTIVITIES

For the last lesson of Mondays and after school from Middle School onwards, we run our co-curricular activities which we call the Monday period 8 programme. Students initially have the chance to join either the Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force sections of our combined cadet force or our non-uniformed activity group called outdoor pursuits before the programme expands with examples of other activities such as sports coaching, climbing, rock band, mountain biking, volunteering and The 1509 our student written publication.

I love how packed the calendar is with things like Period 8, sports, music and Field Days. It’s not just about lessons, it’s about all the extra experiences that make school life so enjoyable. “
