Identical units of paper were required to work together to fill a 9” cubed volume.
Hierarchy:
The lower units are working together to hold up the top unit; percieved as the most important.

Multiple iterations were required to determine the most optimal square unit design.
Having a thick, wide base, and an odd number of “ribs” were key factors.

A column style was created using previously studied puddingstone. This early iteration served as the base for the community kitchen.
Early Concepts and Materials
Early “field condition” concept at a neighboring park. The heptagon shapes, arranged in a certain way, created intricate geometries that I wanted to explore.

Community Kitchen Concept
The Rok is a community space where locals can learn to cook, prepare meals, and connect with others in their neighborhood. Through various common spaces and connections to the earth, the community kitchen is born.
The grading on site is subtracted from in order to reveal the puddingstone below.

Camp Amik

Camp Amik is a campground for kids and grown-ups alike, where the idea is to reconnect with the earth, and enjoy nature with old and new friends.

Created in Rhino, a network of curves were drawn from reference images.
Using the NetworkCrv command, these curves were joined together to make a series of polysurfaces.
