We now speak to both Sara Hartshorn, Quality Systems Engineer from Chemring Defence and John Reynolds, Managing Director from Reynolds Training Services on the successful delivery of the training and benefits for both companies.

Employer Viewpoint: Speaking to Sara Hartshorn, Quality Systems Engineer at Chemring Defence we asked: What were the skills challenges you were facing as a need for the training?

We currently only had a small number of people who were trained in Emergency Response, which restricted the amount of people who could be used to fulfill the Emergency Response roles. Due to the training this number has now increased.

How was the process of using the Cogent Skills Referral Service to assist you in finding a match for your training requirements?

The process of using Cogent Skills was excellent, they found the trainers that would match our requirements perfectly and provided us with a number of different options, which gave us the choice to select the training provider we preferred.

What has been the result of the training?

We now have an upskilled and newly trained selection of staff who are confident and competent at carrying out this role in Emergency Response. We have planned future training with Reynolds Training Services to complete the next part.

Yes it was a straightforward process and very simple to use.

What does the future hold for Chemring Defence?

Chemring Defence is in a prime position to grow and develop its market share throughout 2018 onwards. We are constantly looking to develop new innovative products which will support our customers’ requirements.

We had used Cogent Skills for previous training that was carried out before with our company. After receiving great first time service we decided to use you again.

Provider Viewpoint: Speaking to John Reynolds, Managing Director at Reynolds Training Services, we asked: What training did you provide to Chemring Defence?

RTS provided Development and Delivery of Bespoke Emergency Response Training relevant to HSE Guidance and company standards.

Was the training successful you delivered?

Yes, we have received very positive feedback from those on the course and from Chemring Defence directly.

How did you adapt the training for the customer?

We discussed with the customer their specific requirements, reviewed their ER procedures and mapped this to the regulators requirements. We utilised their forms to make exercises relevant and had photographs of the facility to keep it local and recognisable. We forwarded a copy to them prior to delivery for approval and then after the fist delivery made some minor changes.

Why do you think you were successful?

I believe we were successful due to that we engaged with the client, by email, and telephone, and offered some initial direction in what we could deliver as well as the experience we have within this field. We provided examples of work and previous clients we have worked with to demonstrate what we can deliver and our successes.

Has there been any given results?

Yes a bespoke test was run relevant to the course content.

For those with relevant responsibilities a range of practical exercises were undertaken by participants relevant to their roles.
