In the area of missions, this year was a watershed year. The laun ch of Hop e Sprin gs Water has en ergized so mu ch good work. The E*TEAM ’s well rehabilitation project, linked to our medical t eam helped launch a church in th e Bantu region and we saw nearly 20 baptisms. We reach ed people with the Gosp el who had never even h eard the na me of Jesu s. Our five years in Eth iopia have b egun to b ear much fru it. In addition, th e launch of the Global Leadership Summit in Addis Ababa took us t o a new place of international leadership. Wh ile we had 560 this year we are exp ectin g over 1000 p eople in two d ifferent lan guages th is year. We have partnered with two chu rch es from around the US to h elp lead the Amharic version with hopes of d evelopin g 5 additional sites in Et hiopia over th e next five yea rs. Th is is in direct resp onse to our Eth iopian's friends requests for train in g.

The Willow Creek Association is excited about our work and usin g our story to h elp others launch international location s for the Su mmit.

The beginnin g of Friendsh ip House at the T ownview Apartments is the culmination of years of small steps in lovin g ou r neighb ors. Each week we have a direct witness for Ch rist and have already h ad a person receive Ch rist a s Lord and Savior. Ou r goal is for everyon e to kn ow about Christ, for ev ery student to excel in school and for peop le t o get jobs. It’s a lon g term undertakin g, but worth every second.

After moving to Dallas, major back surgery and my husband’s illness I’ve been unable to attend worship services. So I watch our services via the website every Sunday. It is so important to us. When the camera scans the room I see some of our frie nds. I get to hear the choir and Branch. I usually watch the sermon twice. I cannot stress enough how important this ministry is to us. It gives us the opportunity to attend worship and feel connected to our church home.

As a kid, VBS was the one special program just for kids that I lo oked forward to every summer. We love to transform the ROC and Fellowship Hall into a biblic al setting and provide wonderful drama, music and activities to not only teach the children about the people of the Bible but make it fun and memorable . It has been a rewarding experience for me to be a part in sharing God’s lo ve wit h the children.

My classroom is called the "Crow's Nest." The old HVAC system didn’t work in the cla ss. I could tell because if the heater was on, we were melting, and if the air was on, we were freezing. At the beginning of this school year, however, the air conditioning was not working at all, and our classroom unbearably hot. It was difficult to teach Child ren were distracted. We had windows open and multip le fans running to no avail.

The new HVAC system has been installed, and it has made an incredib le difference. Our class is not being distracted, we are able to focus on learning. It has been a blessing to our students and staff. Thank you to all that have sacrificed and giv en.

One evening after working on our children’s choir music, I got out a Bible's and began to look at some of God's promises. I showed the children one of my favorite passages, Psalm 91, which talks all about God being our shelter and protector in times of trouble. A few weeks later, Madeline .came running up to me and said, "Mrs. Rachel! Mrs. Rachel! You'll never guess what happened to me last weekend. My frie nds and I went camping in our backyard for a sleepover, and we got scared because we heard a noise. I told them not to be afraid because God is with us and I got my Bible out and we all read Psalm 91 together! " She began to laugh as she said, "It even said that no disaster will come near your "tent!"
