What Semen Analysis Test Diagnose?

Morphology refers to the shape of the sperm and is measured as the percentage of sperm that have a normal shape. A normal morphology rate is 4% or higher.

It is important to note that a single semen analysis may not accurately reflect a man's overall fertility potential. Factors such as stress, illness, and recent sexual activity can all affect the results of a semen analysis. For this reason, it is recommended to have multiple semen analyses to get a more accurate picture of a man's fertility.

How To Prepare For Semen Analysis?

Semen Analysis is a crucial test for evaluating male fertility, and preparing for it properly can ensure accurate results. Here are some steps to follow when preparing for semen analysis:

1. Abstain from ejaculating: It is recommended to abstain from ejaculating for 2-7 days before the test. This helps to ensure that the semen sample is representative of the man's normal semen production.

2. Avoid substances that can affect semen quality: Certain substances, such as alcohol, tobacco, and drugs, can affect semen quality. Avoiding these substances for at least 24-48 hours before the test is recommended.

3. Collect the sample in a sterile container: The semen sample should be collected in a sterile container provided by the clinic or laboratory. It is important to avoid contamination of the sample by avoiding contact with surfaces or clothing.

4. Keep the sample warm: Semen should be kept at body temperature to maintain its quality. If the sample needs to be transported, it is recommended to wrap the container in a warm cloth or use a thermal bag to keep it warm.

5. Avoid excessive physical activity: Excessive physical activity or heavy lifting just before the test can affect the results. It is recommended to avoid such activities for at least 24 hours before the test.
