MODELING Build of loads

TEXT: JOSE PUERTO

Generally our freight wagons leaving the store empty without charge. For this reason we need create loads to more real our compositions. 18

MODEL

A simple and inexpensive way to load our cars is the construction of different elements to simulate real loads and simultaneously provide an original touch to the compositions.

This time we will build the typical vehicle loads covered by tarps, something very common in almost all eras of modeling, so it will be a great choice for any model. The construction of these charges is not of any difficulty and can be done easily and quickly, with very few tools and items needed.

To begin we’ll find several vehicles that serve as basis for making a mold.

A wad porexpan or the like will serve to make the mold.

With a modeling knife or cutter make the mold. 19

MODEL To start locate of our road vehicles some models for their shapes and volumes are well adapted to our work, allowing the canvas to form folds and coverage areas completely uncovered appearance. In this case, a car and a tractor are chosen. But if you were thinking that we would limit to cover the models and painting are wrong, as this could damage or dirty cars losing them or in some cases under the layer of canvas glued on its surface. What we have to do is create molds from the chosen vehicle. We will use a piece of cork or similar to give way cuter copying a major proportion of vehicles that will take as a model. Once we made the mold and start producing loads. We will now use tissue paper or the like box, cutting large pieces that cover the mold and part of the ground around him.

Gradually give way to blocks material, getting elected to create similar models figures.

20

MODEL The next step is to prepare a white glue little diluted 50% with water, soaking the paper well over the mold with liquid and pressing the brush on the parts that shape windscreens, wheels, etc. After allowing to dry, we can unmold and repeat the process as often as necessary. You just need to paint the canvas. For this purpose choose dark colors and matte, which can be green, blue, gray, black, etc.. with that completely paint the canvas.

The next step is to give rigidity and shape to the canvas, you just have to soak it in a mixture of water and white glue diluted 50%. Forming folds with the brush and let it dry a few hours.

21

FERIAS YMODEL EXPOSICIONES Once dry with some gray paint and applying the technique of dry brush, litter in the canvas with special attention to their folds. Finally we cut the bottom to adjust the load to the floor of the wagon or into a form that we like and we will list a number of charges with which we can mount pure trains, stores vehicles on the yards of freight.

Once the canvas painted and aged the result is very real and can adapt to our needs.
