The oceans have a profound influence on the world’s climate, most strikingly in the way they absorb solar energy and redistribute it around the world in warm surface currents. Cold currents also produce local climatic effects, while alterations in currents are associated with climatic fluctuations such as El Niño. The future behavior of the oceans is crucial to the future course of climate change, as they are an important store for carbon dioxide, the principal greenhouse gas.

La Ropa Beach A visit to La Ropa Beach should definitely be on your agenda, when here in Zihuatanejo. It can be reached by taxi for 40 pesos, or by combi bus for 7 pesos per person. A combi bus stops at numerous places on the main street of Benito Juarez. The ride takes approximately ten minutes to the far end of the beach. After disembarking it is a short walk to the beach. From there, you can walk along and choose from numerous establishments that are eager for your business. Between the restaurant El Pirata and El Manglar there is a nature trail where you will see local birds, iguanas and crocodiles. This extensive, firm beach lends to great walks affording a good tan and a bit of good exercise. There are four or five cabanas along the beach that offer terrific relaxing, holistic, Swedish full body massages for around $20.00 per hour! Water sports abound with parasailing, jet skis, banana boat, inflatable disc, kayaks, water skiing and hobies. Prices
