How Does Exercise Help Your Heart?
Regular exercise is a key component to maintaining a healthy heart and reducing your risk of heart disease. Here’s how:
1. Reducing high blood pressure; exercise helps to make your heart stronger and more efficient at pumping blood, which can reduce the pressure on the walls of the arteries.
2. Lowering cholesterol; regular exercise has been shown to help lower LDL (bad) and raise HDL (good) cholesterol levels, reducing your risk of heart disease.
3. Managing weight; being overweight is another risk factor of heart disease. Regular exercise and eating a healthy diet will help you to maintain, or lose weight if necessary, reducing the strain on your heart.
4. Improving your overall cardiovascular health; exercise increases the amount of oxygen your heart receives, improving the elasticity of your blood vessels and reducing inflammation in your body.
