What should you know about Quantum Computing? Quantum computing harnesses the potential of quantum mechanics to provide a huge leap forward in computation to solve specific issues. To be precise, any discussion on quantum computing feels like a quantum leap into a sci-fi cinema. Make no mistake! We are on the cusp of computer technology which defies logic nowadays. Nowadays, the transistors in computers are as small as we can make them with existing technology. In recent years, quantum computing has been moving from a pure theory into something practical. Even the B Tech CSE colleges in Bangalore are prioritizing quantum computing for their students to prepare them. With these things in mind, let’s take a glance at the various aspects of quantum computing. Overview of Quantum Computing Quite interestingly, quantum physics has defied logic since the atom was first studied in the early 20th century. Classical computers rely on binary numbers to execute operations. However, quantum computers rely on quantum bits and qubits. Just like traditional computers, even quantum computers rely on binary digits. However, qubits have a third state known as superposition which enables them to denote zero and one at the same time. Instead of assessing one or zero sequentially, superposition in quantum computers allows the operator to assess two qubits in superposition to represent four scenarios simultaneously. In simple words, quantum computers are way faster when compared to conventional ones. Great for solving Optimization Problems Quantum computers are ideal for solving optimization problems. They are adept at figuring out the best way to schedule flights at an airport to determine the best possible delivery routes. Recently, Google has announced that it possesses a quantum computer that is 100 million times faster than traditional computers. In the age of big data, quantum computers are the ideal devices to assess them. B Tech in CSE colleges in Karnataka is now realizing the benefits of quantum computing.
